Abstract/Notes: Effectively adapting evidence-based interventions for nursing home (NH) implementation is a critical, yet underexamined, component of improving care quality. Montessori-based activity programming (MAP) is an evidence-based intervention that promotes person-centered care, engages persons living with dementia, and mitigates distress behaviors. Currently, there is sparse evidence of MAP in Department of Veterans Affairs NHs (i.e., community living centers [CLCs]). CLCs differ significantly from community NHs and require adaptations to support MAP use and sustainability. This study uses the Framework for Reporting Adaptations and Modifications-Enhanced (FRAME) to track changes made to MAP as an exemplar for clinicians and implementation scientists. This work fills a gap in adapting interventions through a detailed examination of the adaptation process in NHs.Qualitative and quantitative data were collected across 8 CLCs (e.g., advisory panel, staff interviews, training evaluations, field notes, and fidelity assessments). We used an iterative, rapid content analytic approach to triangulate findings and identify needed adaptations for the CLC setting.Thirty-six adaptations were made. Most adaptions occurred during the preimplementation phase, were reactive, focused on training/evaluation, and involved researchers, intervention developers, and practitioners. All were fidelity-consistent with MAP. The most common goal across adaptations was increased reach/engagement of the intervention.CLCs and community NHs can use findings to support intervention adaptation, and adapt and implement MAP to improve meaningful engagement for persons living with dementia and other residents. Future research should further evaluate and standardize FRAME for diverse users of complex interventions.

[One of the most important goals of Montessori pedagogy is to promote the ability to concentrate. Above all, “walking on the line”, one of the most well-known exercises according to Montessori, and various stillness exercises serve this purpose. On the one hand, the author describes their process in a clear and practical way and shows how best to introduce them; on the other hand, she also explains in detail the meaning of the exercises, their importance for the child's development and their embedding in the overall context of Montessori's pedagogy.]

Abstract/Notes: This work aims to strengthen the communication skills in English as a Foreign Language of young children in Ecuadorian elementary schools. It used the action research method and a combination of qualitative and quantitative research approaches. The sample consists of 10 children of the second grade of elementary school and their parents. All they have permanent residence in the province of Manabi, Ecuador. The researcher team designed an educational intervention based on the Montessori Methodology to improve participants’ communication skills in English as a Foreign Language. The educational intervention lasted 6 months and used the contains of the second grade of the elementary education curriculum of Ecuador. The instruments used for data collection were in-deep interviews, class observation, and the vocabulary acquisition test of Windi (2017). The results showed that all participants improved in 3-4 points their scores of English communication skills from pre-test in comparison to post-test. It concluded that 100% of young children that participated in this research improved their communication skills in English as a Foreign Language when supported the instruction with Montessori Methodology. [The present dissertation seeks to identify tactics and strategies used in the process of implementing the montessori-lubienska method at Colégio Sion in Curitiba, between 1956 and 1959. The construction of this historiographic narrative presents the french theoretical Michel de Certeau as an articulating theoretical axis, with its concepts of place, strategy and tactics, from the intersection of sources of different types collected in the archives of the College and in external instances; and dialogue with academic publications that address the themes and the context, at the Brasil and state of Paraná. The research results show that under an atmosphere marked in Paraná by previous initiatives related to the Montessori method, the Catholic option and initiatives by the montessori-lubienska method as a way out of the clash between Catholics and renovators, combined with the training that Soeur Maria Cristina had received from Lubienska in France, they allowed the sisters of Curitiba by means of cunning strokes to organize tactics to guarantee the montessori-lubienska method as a strategy from Colégio Sion.]
