Abstract/Notes: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan metode montessori terhadap kemampuan membaca permulaan siswa kelas I SD Negeri 51 Toli-Toli Kabupaten Pangkep. [This research aims to determine the effect of using the Montessori method on the beginning reading abilities of class I students at SD Negeri 51 Toli-Toli, Pangkep Regency. This type of research is experimental research (Pre-experimental design). The approach used in this research is a quantitative approach with a Onegroup Pretest-Posttest Design research design. Research procedures include preparation, implementation and completion stages. Data collection techniques include tests and observations. The data analysis technique is in the form of descriptive statistical analysis and inferential t-test (t-test). The sample in this study was 28 class I students of SD Negeri 51 Toli-Toli, Pangkep Regency, consisting of 12 men and 16 women. The results of the study showed that the use of the Montessori method had an effect on the beginning reading ability of class I students at SD Negeri 51 Toli-Toli, Pangkep Regency. This is proven by the results of descriptive statistical analysis which shows that student learning outcomes using the Montessori method have changed for the better than before the implementation of the Montessori method. The results of inferential statistical analysis using the t test formula (t-test), it is known that the calculated t value obtained is 26.77 with a frequency of db = 28 - 1 = 27, at a significance level of 0.05 (5%) obtained t 0.05 = 2.05183. So, t Count > t Table or Null Hypothesis (H0) is rejected and the Alternative Hypothesis (H1) is accepted. This proves that there is an influence in using the Montessori method on the beginning reading abilities of grade 1 students at SD Negeri 51 Toli-Toli, Pangkep Regency.]

Abstract/Notes: [...]far, Griffin has benefited from reading poems and singing songs that feature rhymes, alliteration, and phonological word play-activities that may already be in your classroom. [...]toy (/oy/), bridge (/j/), house (/ow/), boat (long/O/). Note that words beginning with continuant consonant sounds (ones you can stretch out until you run out of breath, like /mmmmm/ and /sssssssss/) are easier for students to isolate than stop sounds (like /p/ and /b/). A typical lesson might have ten words and include a sequence such as: ship, chip, chop, top, tap, tack, tuck, duck, deck, check.

Abstract/Notes: The aim of this research developed Teaching Module for students’ Reading Difficulty at Primary School. This research uses the Borg and Gall development procedure which has been simplified into 4 stages, namely (1) research and data collection, (2) planning, (3) module development, (4) validation and testing. The research subjects were students who had difficulty learning to read at the beginning of grade I elementary school. Data collection techniques use observation, reading ability tests, product validation questionnaires by experts. The steps used in this research and development are (1) research and gathering initial information; (2) planning; (3) product format development; (4) small scale trials; (5) final revision and product improvement. Module validation is carried out by media expert validators, material experts and class teachers. The score from the media expert validator got a percentage of 96%, the score from the media expert validator got a percentage of 96%, the class teacher got a percentage of 100%. Thus, all validation results are classified in the "very feasible" category. Based on research on the quality of learning media, learning modules without spelling using the Montessori method have been made feasible and practical for use in teaching and learning reading activities at MIS Nurul Falah Kemuning.

Abstract/Notes: In the article the author invites readers to initiate a certain mode of reading that – inspired by Agamben and Holmes – is called heretical reading. Following the latter, the article suggests that it is important to read Montessori in a heretical way in order to keep this idea open and “alive”. This mode of reading demands constant attempts of playing with the pillars or the main categories of this educational approach. The article is divided into three sections. The first part refers to the socio-historical context of Montessori writings and their reception in Poland. The second part problematizes the issue of dogmatisation and privatization of the knowledge on Montessori and thus making it difficult for the heretical reading to come into being. The last part is devoted to the preliminary sketch of the idea of heretical reading. Following Bourdieu and Agamben the author presents the mode of play – conceived of as an “unappropriate” use of a certain Thing – as a possible initiation of the intellectual experiment that can be called a heretical reading.

Abstract/Notes: The main purpose of this study was to examine whether the age at which children start to learn to read affects their later progress. The study was conducted in Zürich, Switzerland, and compared a first grade class in a local school with two first grade classes in a Montessori school. It was found that although the Montessori children had an advantage over the local children in alphabet knowledge at entry to Grade 1, this was not translated into a significant advantage at the end of Grade 1 in either phonemic awareness or reading ability. Further analysis revealed that pretest alphabet knowledge for the whole group was significantly related to progress. In addition, scatterplots showed that some children started school with high levels of alphabet knowledge but did not make progress, indicating that alphabet knowledge is necessary for literacy progress but not sufficient.

Abstract/Notes: Examines the relationship between two preschool program directors' and teachers' beliefs, instructional decisions, and preschool children's conceptions of reading and writing. Results show that preschool children's conceptions of reading and writing reflected the practices of the two programs. (Author/BB) Directors of two preschool programs were interviewed regarding their orientations toward reading and writing instruction. Ten children from each program were interviewed regarding their conceptions of reading and writing. One school was found to have a “mastery of specific skills/text-based” orientation, and the other was found to have a “holistic/reader-based” orientation. A relationship was found between preschool program's orientations toward reading and writing instruction and children's ideas about reading and writing. The relationships between preschool practices and children's conceptions are examined. Implications for the influence of preschool teacher's beliefs and instructional decisions on children's conceptions of reading and writing are discussed.
