Abstract/Notes: From year to year, the population is certain to increase. As time goes by, it is also accompanied by the development of science and technology that supports human life, including in the field of parenting science or more popularly referred to as parenting science. Various parties invite young parents, or we know the millennial generation, to be better at nurturing their children, especially early childhood. These young parents have wider access to parenting methods in an increasingly open era like today, they can learn many things through books that are sold freely, and also through online seminars or from various other sources of educational content. As said by Dr. Montessori, that the most important thing for millennial parents to realize is that children are part of a society that is still in the process of learning to understand what is in their environment. There are three important things that are the main needs of children in a parenting process, namely nutrition, stimulation and a sense of security. Nutrition is the first principal as a source of child growth in the form of food intake needed by children, stimulation as a process of stimulating maturity in every child's development, and a sense of security as a comfortable atmosphere for children and is a condition that is expected to occur in every child's activity. Parenting science is a form of parenting basic pattern and becomes flexible to be integrated with fields of science related to principles, value systems in society, beliefs, psychology, health, and various other scientific fields. Through the correct understanding of parenting, as well as proper emotional management, millennial parents will be able to live in the right parenting atmosphere, where they are able to present a comfortable family atmosphere, become a source of security for children, and form positive characters in children as their basis. grow into a dignified adult human. When they are adults, the provision of nutrition, stimulation and a sense of security will also be repeated to their children and their offspring in the future. That way, the majority of people who understand and apply parenting will form a society that has a positive character

Abstract/Notes: For years, the traditional school system did not meet the needs of students. Parents founded schools to allow children to move away from the rigid class-subject-hour system. Founders of alternative schools can be citizens, parents and teachers, religious communities and other legal entities. These are the so-called free schools, civic education initiatives, pedagogical reform attempts, educational boarding schools, etc. The goals of this paper are to present the pedagogical concepts and ideas of schools in the Republic of Croatia that were founded by parents. The paper presents the basic pedagogical principles and teaching aspects of Waldorf and Montessori pedagogy based on educational pluralism, a brief overview of the partnership between parents and schools in Croatia and the educational model of the Catholic primary schools "Ružičnjak" and "Lotrščak". The observed schools are located in Zagreb and have only one goal - to adapt the school to the child. We try to provide each student with an individual approach. The starting points are the child's needs and interests. These are schools where students have freedom of choice. The goal of education is the holistic development of the child. Emphasis is placed on active learning methods and abandoning didactic scenarios in which the child is only a passive observer.

Random sampling was used to select the parents of Montessori schools. The results show positive association between the behaviour and roles of office staff, receptionists, and parents, satisfaction. Similarly, the results show a negative association between the facilities of Montessori schools, the influence of Montessori quality and behaviour and the roles of Montessori teachers. This study has concluded that there was an association between the quality of Montessori education and parental satisfaction. Happiness-Oriented Parents: An Alternative Perspective on Privilege and Choosing Schools

Available from: University of Chicago Press

Publication: American Journal of Education, vol. 129, no. 3

Pages: 145-176

Abstract/Notes: Research on privileged parents, defined here as those with the economic, social, and educational resources to navigate school choice processes to their advantage, often depicts such parents as anxious about maintaining social mobility, leading them to “opportunity hoard” desirable or academically competitive schools in ways that exclude other families. In contrast, we identify a subset of privileged parents in urban settings that we term “happiness-oriented parents” who seek schools that prioritize their child’s social-emotional happiness. Using a qualitative meta-analysis combining seven studies conducted by the authors in New York City; Hartford, Connecticut; and a small East Coast city between 2012 and 2021, we reanalyzed interview data from semistructured interviews with 106 privileged parents who have the ability to access and navigate a range of school choice options. We found a happiness orientation in a diverse group of privileged parents (40% identified as Black, Latinx, Asian American, or multiracial, and the remaining 60% were white). Although these parents were choosing a range of school options in different contexts and they identified different criteria as important to cultivating happiness, they consistently (1) centered happiness, (2) chose for social-emotional and noncompetitive academic factors, and (3) saw this choice as different from the norm. In identifying this repeated but understudied phenomenon, we consider that happiness-oriented parents’ choices might affect a range of education policy changes and outcomes. In the case of our studies, we examine the potential of these parents as allies in school integration efforts.
