Abstract/Notes: In the first two decades of the Twentieth Century, reflections on teacher training were particularly rich, implying the lively and significant participation of a plurality of actors. Even Maria Montessori actively participated in this debate and the meeting with the Humanitarian Society in Milan, and with Augusto Osimo primarily, proved to be very fruitful on these issues. The specialist magazine La Coltura Popolare represents a faithful and interesting mirror of this relationship and of the many reflections and initiatives arose from it, promoting the propagation of the Montessori method and offering at the same time a space for dialogue and comparison of all the most innovative and vivifying voices of the pedagogical reflection of the time. This paper proposes a first and partial reconstruction of the significant role that La Coltura Popolare played, from 1911 to 1922, in soliciting the attention of its public on the topic of teacher training, in spreading the Montessori method, in stimulating a not biased and preconceived comparison between different approaches, experiments and views on childhood.

In the study, a single group pre-test post-test pattern was created to collect quantitative data. The study lasted 14 weeks in total. In the study, "Science Attitude Scale" and "Science Attitude Scale" were used as quantitative data collection tools. In order to collect the qualitative data of the study, the "semi-structured interview form" prepared by the researcher based on the items of the scales used in quantitative terms was used. The quantitative data obtained in the study were analyzed using the statistical (paired sample t test) method, and the qualitative data were analyzed by content analysis. In the results of working; It has been determined that STEM activities based on Montessori approach have a positive effect on pre-school teacher candidates' attitudes towards science and science teaching. The results obtained from the qualitative data showed that there were positive improvements in teacher candidates' attitudes towards science and science teaching and the quantitative results were of high quality.

Abstract/Notes: Nanette Schonleber makes a remarkable correlation as to why Hawaiian indigenous educators thrive with Montessori pedagogy. Compatible educators share values and goals, such as developmental learning, respect for parenthood, freedom of movement and independence, choice in learning, and specific individualized potential. Hawaiian language and culture-based educators view their work as a way of learning embedded in a way of life that integrates a cultural worldview and belief system, such as the child as a spiritual being, earth as living, and creation as interconnected. The author also finds congruency in land-based learning as being fundamental to indigenous learning and similar to the Erdkinder emphasis for the adolescent where interconnectedness and community roles arise out of farming. [This article is based on the author's 2006 award-winning doctoral dissertation titled "Culturally Congruent Education and the Montessori Model: Perspectives from Hawaiian Culture-Based Educators."]

Abstract/Notes: Montessori education gathers around two purposes: biological and social purposes. Helping natural development of an individual is targeted in the biological part, and preparation of an individual for the environment is targeted in the social part (Montessori, 1947). Fundamental element of Montessori approach is to form the space. Although there are plenty of studies present in the literature on this subject, it was noted that studies on interior spaces, with which people have quite intensive and higher level of relationship, turned out to be very few. Thus, in this study, in the context of findings determined by conceptual components affecting physical characteristics in the formation of interior spaces, particularly in kindergartens applying Montessori education model, which has become widespread in preschool educational institutions in Turkey during the past ten years; For this reason five (all) institutions in Ankara were selected as the area of study with more than one data collection technique, and survey with quantitative approach, and document investigation with qualitative approach and monitoring (mechanical) techniques were used. In the applied study, characteristics making up the interior space in preschool educational institutions were studied in the content of the titles of Properties of Interiors, General Spatial Standards of Day Care Centre, Atmospheric Properties Floor, Wall, Furnishings etc...), Furniture and Equipment, and the sample interior- space forming model for design setting was suggested.
