Abstract/Notes: Aim: The topic of the article is the issue of popularizing the Maria Montessori method in the magazine “Przedszkole Przedszkolne” (1925–1939). The article was divided into five parts. The first presents the magazine “Preschool Education”, its issues and educational and popularizing functions. The second part of the article contains an outline of Maria Montessori’s biography up to 1910. The most important turning point in the life of this outstanding teacher is the year in which she gave up her medical practice and didactic work at the University of Rome, devoting herself entirely to teaching, primarily improving and promoting her own method. The most important for the discussed issue, i.e. the third, fourth and fifth parts include the description and the analysis of articles describing the Montessori method in the pages of Preschool Education, presentation of the section with sets of sense exercises and presentation of critical voices regarding this method, published in this journal. Methods: a critical analysis of sources. Results: an analysis of original articles propagating the Maria Montessori method in the magazine “Preschool Education” (1925–1939), whose founder and editor-in-chief was Maria Weryho-Radziwiłłowicz. Conclusions: In the years 1925–1939, the magazine “Preschool Education” published several articles that were a valuable source of information about the pedagogy of Maria Montessori and the organization of “children’s homes”. The authors of the most important of them were Klara Grunwald, and critical of this method ‒ Zofia Bogdanowiczowa. Importantly, in 1936 a translation of one of Maria Montessori’s lectures was published. The editors of “Preschool Education” placed great emphasis on the issues of pedagogical practice, which is why from the first issue the subject of sensory education was promoted. A huge number of various the so-called sensory exercises, in the form of usually creative suggestions for educators, could however result in the shallowing of the Montessori method as a whole.

Abstract/Notes: Bu çalışmada eğitim felsefesinde adı çokça zikredilen Fransız filozof Jean-Jacquez Rousseau’nun, Maria Montessori tarafından kurulan ve kendi adıyla anılan Montessori eğitim yöntemi üzerindeki etkisi incelenecektir. / In this study, the effect of the French philosopher Jean-Jacquez Rousseau, whose name is mentioned a lot in educational philosophy, on the Montessori education method established by Maria Montessori and named after her will be examined. Rousseau’s famous book Emile contains a detailed explanation on the goal and function of the education. Sometimes, his approach to education caused very significant discussions and sometimes it was a source of inspiration. Maria Montessori, who is also known as Italy’s first female doctor was one of the names who was affected from his opinion in a positive way. Montessori examines the issue of education considered as helping hand approach to life from a wide perspective thanks to her education in medicine, philosophy and anthropology. In this way, she presents a more systematic and scientific based education model. On the other hand, Rousseau prefers to act according to the natural course and uses his own observations rather than being systematic in the strictest sense of the world. It is a fact that he was heavily criticized for this preference. Even though Rousseau and Maria Montessori’s ideas on the education field bring a lot of debate, the effect of both names in pedagogy cannot be ignored. However, it can be noted that Rousseau’s ideas in the field stayed only as an education design or a comment made on education. Unlike Rousseau, it is seen that Maria Montessori’s ideas were adopted in many countries and a lot of educational institutions were established in the direction of this idea. Although there is such a difference between them in the concrete field, their starting points and some of their imaginations in the field of education are similar. These similarities in the direction of a conceptual frame will be addressed in the study. Thus, Rousseau’s influence on Maria Montessori will be examined and it will be concluded that he wrote more than a novel in the field of education.

Abstract/Notes: The Società Umanitaria of Milan, between 1918 and 1923, played an essential role in spreading and developing the Montessori Method. Studying in the Historical Archive of Società Umanitaria the numerous documents there collected, the author reconstructed the crucial moments of the extremely significant collaboration between Maria Montessori and Augusto Osimo, General Secretary of the Società Umanitaria. This complex and in-depth investigation was guided by the analysis, in specific, of the training courses for Montessori teachers organised by Società Umanitaria, essentially unexamined before this study, that allowed the researcher to have a deep insight into the action of Società Umanitaria aimed to promote and implement the Montessori Method in Italy and all around the world.

Abstract/Notes: Children's first education begins in the family. The first step of education after the family is pre-school education institutions. Early childhood education period, on the other hand, is a critical period of great importance in which individuals acquire all the skills that they will use in their future years. Education programs implemented in schools are very effective in creating appropriate and effective learning environments, guiding children, and acquiring all the skills they will need in the development of the behaviors expected from children. In addition, the parallelism of the education programs applied at school at home is of great importance for the continuity of development. In this study, the views of practitioners on the effects of daily life skills activities in Montessori education on the hand skills and independent movement skills of 5-6 year old children were examined. The research is a qualitative research and it was studied according to the multiple case study pattern. The sample of the study consists of 10 teachers and 10 parents who applied Montessori education and paticipated in the study voluntarily in the central district of Samsun province in the 2021-2022 academic year. The data of the research were collected by the interview method, which is a data collection technique that can be done by using face-to-face communication and verbal or video communication tools such as the telephone. The data were analyzed with the descriptive analysis method. As a result of the examination of the data obtained, it was concluded that the effects of daily life skills activities on children's hand skills and ability to act independently are very important according to the teachers. It has been determined that parents prepare environments that will support their children's daily life skills in their homes according to this education program, together with their children's Montessori education.
