Abstract/Notes: "MONTESSORI ENDS HER WORK IN L. A. Madame Maria Montessori, the famous Italian educator and founder of the Montessori method, who has been conducting Montessori training classes in this city for the past six weeks, today concluded the training course at the Boyle Heights intermediate school. Tomorrow Montessori will go to San Diego to establish another training school there. "I leave Los Angeles with a sense of leaving real friends,” Montessori declared today. "I wish to extend, through The Evening Herald, my thanks and appreciation to the public of Los Angeles which has given me such splendid response and cooperation. I wish especially to thank Miss Katherine Moore for the hospitality she has shown me and the assistance she has rendered me in my work.” Miss Moore, formerly a city school teacher, studied under Montessori in Italy and has established Montessori classes in this city since her return to America."
