Abstract/Notes: Montessori education was born in Italy more than a century ago and today it is widespread in at least 36 countries around the world. In Italy, from 2016 to 2021, the number of Montessori primary schools more than doubled. This explanatory and exploratory research is the most comprehensive evaluation of Montessori education ever conducted in Italy. We investigated: a) the impact of Montessori education on academic and socio-emotional outcomes; b) the profiles of Montessori primary school teachers and the extent to which they implemented Montessori education with fidelity. The longitudinal study on the academic outcomes was conducted on 2nd, 5th, 8th and 10th grade students in two separate cohorts. The results demonstrate that, depending on the grade and the cohort considered, Montessori students achieve similar or significantly higher scores than non-Montessori students. In some cases, they achieve more heterogeneous scores, especially in mathematics. More heterogeneous scores were expected according to the hypothesis that Montessori education aims to develop the characteristics of each one and not to standardize academic outcomes. The study on the socio-emotional outcomes was conducted on 8th grade students and it demonstrates that Montessori students achieve significantly higher scores on the empathy scale. The survey on the teachers permitted to delineate 3 different profiles of them, thanks to a cluster analysis. Only the first group of teachers, which made up half of the sample, managed to implement Montessori education with fidelity. These findings highlight two main requirements. The first is the need to continue monitoring and guiding the diffusion of Montessori education among Italian primary schools, to improve and maintain fidelity. The second concerns the reaffirmation of the value of educational practices and the principles of Montessori activism as possible answers that are still valid to the new needs of the Italian school.

Abstract/Notes: Easy Montessori Manager is dedicated to all the schools in Malaysia which are using the Montessori approach. It resembles an online management system but specifically designed for Montessori preschools and inclusive of Montessori Methods and for teachers' guidelines and assessments. A preliminary study was conducted to investigate the need of an online Montessori module by doing a survey. The survey is conducted by using questionnaires which are distributed to four Montessori schools in Selangor. From the result of the study, a prototype of the actual system is developed in order to get a general idea on how the system should look like. Afterward, the prototype is then evaluated by a Montessori principal to get her opinion on a good Montessori management system.

Abstract/Notes: The Montesori education is for becoming normalization of child by forming the development concentration on the works by use the materials oneself who is the child to be educated in the prepared environment which is provided by the directress, the persons who make the environment for this purpose. The value of Montessori education could highly be approaised as the expectable seeking form of education which offers the selective opportunity by oneself as an esteemed independent individual. Furthermore, it could offer the development of independency to the child who is at the sensitive period with good absorbability from the surrounding environment as well as offer the responsibility of one`s own study for promotion of future study possibility and various experience. For this purpose, the prepared environmet is the precondition of education. Accordingly, for the application of this education at the educational places in our country, the following should be considered and the subjects of the way of education. 1. The real understanding and appraisal should be preceded based on full theorical examination on the Montessori education. 2. The education must be conducted by the instructors who have the license, issued by the International Montessori Association(AMI, AMS)and the specialized training institute for the Montessori instructors training should be established. 3. The adequate materials of Montessori for suitability for physical development which is acknowledged by the AMI, AMS should be manufactured and supplied for respective child. 4. The installation and furnishing fund must be presented in detail on the Montessori educational institute.

Abstract/Notes: Bu çalışmanın amacı okul öncesi dönemdeki çocukların matematiksel akıl yürütme becerilerinde Montessori materyalleri destekli bireysel ve işbirlikli matematik etkinliklerinin etkilerini ortaya koymaktır. Çalışmada 'öntest sontest kontrol gruplu desen' uygulanmıştır. Çalışmaya Kırklareli il merkezinde bulunan Y Lisesi Uygulama Anasınıfı'ndaki deney 1 grubunu oluşturan 15, deney 2 grubunu oluşturan 15 ve X Anaokulu'ndaki kontrol grubunu oluşturan 15 çocuk olmak üzere toplam 45 çocuk katılmıştır. Uygulama deney 1 grubunda Montessori materyalleri destekli bireysel matematik etkinlikleri, deney 2 grubunda Montessori materyalleri destekli işbirlikli matematik etkinlikleri ve kontrol grubunda MEB (2013) Okul Öncesi Eğitim Programı destekli matematik etkinlikleri ile sürdürülmüştür. Veri toplama aracı olarak, kişisel bilgi formu ve 'Erken Matematiksel Akıl Yürütme Becerileri Değerlendirme Aracı' kullanılmıştır. 2018-2019 eğitim öğretim yılı güz döneminde toplanan verilerin analizinde Kruskal Wallis Testi ve Mann Whitney U Testi kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın birinci hipotezi kapsamında elde edilen bulgularda deney 1 ve kontrol grubunu oluşturan çocukların matematiksel akıl yürütme becerisine ilişkin performansı arasında deney 1 grubu lehine istatistiksel olarak anlamlı fark bulunmuştur. Araştırmanın ikinci hipotezi kapsamında elde edilen bulgularda deney 2 ve kontrol grubunu oluşturan çocukların matematiksel akıl yürütme becerisine ilişkin performansı arasında deney 2 grubu lehine istatistiksel olarak anlamlı fark bulunmuştur. Araştırmanın üçüncü hipotezi kapsamında elde edilen bulgularda deney 1 ve deney 2 grubunu oluşturan çocukların matematiksel akıl yürütme becerisine ilişkin performansı arasında deney 2 grubu lehine istatistiksel olarak anlamlı fark bulunmuştur. Araştırmanın dördüncü hipotezi kapsamında elde edilen bulgularda deney 1, deney 2 ve kontrol grubunu oluşturan çocukların matematiksel akıl yürütme becerisine ilişkin performansının cinsiyete göre anlamlı fark göstermediği bulunmuştur. / The aim of this study is to analyse the effects of individual and cooperative mathematics activities supported by Montessori materials on mathematical reasoning skills of pre-school children. In the study, "pre-test post-test control group design" technique was applied. The study included a total of 45 children, 15 of which constituted the experimental group-1; 15 of which constituted the experimental group-2 in the Y High School Practice Pre-School in Kırklareli city centre, and 15 of them constituted the control group in the X Kindergarten. The application was carried out by using the Montessori Materials Supported Individual Math Activities in the experimental group-1, Montessori Materials Supported Cooperative Math Activities in the experimental group-2, and mathematics activities supported by MEB (2013) Preschool Education Program in the control group. Personal data form and "Early Mathematical Reasoning Skills Assessment Tool" were used as data collection tools. Kruskal Wallis Test and Mann Whitney U Test were used to analyse the data collected in the fall semester of 2018-2019 academic year. In the results obtained under the first hypothesis of the study, there was a statistically significant difference between the performance of experimental group-1 and the control group in terms of mathematical reasoning skills in favour of experimental group-1. In the results obtained under the second hypothesis of the study, there was a statistically significant difference between the performance of experimental group-2 and the control group in terms of mathematical reasoning skills in favour of experimental group-2. In the results obtained under the third hypothesis of the study, there was a statistically significant difference between the performance of experimental group-1 and the experimental group-2 in terms of mathematical reasoning skills in favour of experimental group-2. In the results obtained under the fourth hypothesis of the study, it was found that the performance of the children constituting the experimental group-1, the experimental group-2 and the control group regarding mathematical reasoning were not significantly different according to the gender.
