Abstract/Notes: "Dr. Maria Montessori, whose new system of education has probably been the most widely discussed and at the same time the most ardently disputed in modern pedagogic history, will open classes at the exposition Monday. She will arrive in San Francisco Sunday and will at once take up the work she has planned here. Signorina Anna Fedeli of Rome, Italy, who is accompanying her here, will act as her assistant. One of the classes will be conducted in the ideal classroom in the Palace of Education. There the children will receive their instruction, separated from the spectators by a glass partition only. Four times a week lectures will be given for the pupils in the various state buildings and in the exhibit palaces. Classes under the direction of Dr. Montessori and her assistant will be limited to thirty pupils each. Already 1800 applications for enrollment have been received."
