Abstract/Notes: Dorothy Levitt, the first female British racing driver, introduced the notion of a rearview mirror in her 1909 book, The Woman and the Car, 7 years prior to its incorporation into manufactured vehicles. The idea of a rearview mirror has been a powerful tool for me at AMS- an essential ingredient in my transition. Fortunately, I have had the support of the AMS Board of Directors and the extremely talented AMS staff; I could say they have acted as windshield wipers and a navigation system, providing me a clear path to weather the roadways.
