Abstract/Notes: During World War II, in Europe, she organized a Montessori school for war orphans, providing them education and also sharing her food rations with them.In her own words, "I am grateful for having experienced most of the 20th century and having had the opportunity to be in some of the right places at the right time to meet some of the great people who contributed most to our understanding of the young child, and pointed the way to understanding human behavior."

Abstract/Notes: Virginia B. Fleege, of River Forest, IL, died February 22, 2017, at the age of 91.Virginia graduated from Milwaukee State Teachers College, earned a master's degree at Marquette University, and later trained as a Montessori teacher.

Abstract/Notes: Joyce earned a bachelor's degree from Siena Heights College (University), in Adrian, MI; a master's degree from DePaul University; and a master's in education and Montessori certification from Xavier University.In her retirement, she was involved in the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, a religious education program for children.
