Abstract/Notes: "...The Montessori system is to be used in the instruction at the school. Both Mrs. Cook and Mrs. Travis have studied several terms with Dr. Montessori herself and are well qualified to carry out her theories, which have created such a stir in the educational world. New material prepared by Dr. Montessori during her stay in California last year will be employed by Boyland for the first time. It consists of advanced materials designed for the use of children from 6 to 16. Analysis of language, writing and arithmetic are the subjects these new contrivances will teach. The school is to be made as perfect a demonstration of the Montessori methods as possible. Several years will be devoted to the work at least. Careful records are to be kept and comparisons made with the results in the public schools."

Mrs. Bates is occupying one of the homes in the Crocker row on Garden street and it is said her daughter Dorothea, who will arrive in February, is to open a Montessori school for little ones. The court and gardens surrounding their new home will be an ideal place for such a school in pleasant weather, and two large rooms in the residence will be devoted to the classes during the rainy season.
