Abstract/Notes: The essay highlights the role of “La Montesca” circle and its main protagonist, Baroness Alice Hallgarten Franchetti (1874-1911), in triggering the initial internationalisation of Montessori pedagogy. Exploring the cultural connections gathered around the Umbrian circle—a true meeting point for refined souls suggesting an atmosphere of spiritual retreat—it is possible to discern a prophetic mark establishing the immediate confidence shown in Montessori’s challenge to education, devoted to driving wide-ranging spiritual reform. The “Franciscan flame” underlining Alice Hallgarten Franchetti’s approach within an extensive devotion to the ideals of human elevation and universal brotherhood reflects the pursuit of a spiritual light, around which modernist, neo-Christian, theosophical feelings interwove motivating drives and cultural languages. In this sense, the formidable support initially provided by Alice Hallgarten Franchetti in exporting Montessori’s pedagogy should be read and valued as the sign of a larger belief in human elevation, based on a confidence in the secret treasures of the child and embracing a cosmic sense of spirituality.

Abstract/Notes: The foundation of the pedagogy elaborated by Maria Montessori is the development of children's personality based on their interest, activity, individual characteristics and developmental rhythm. Its main compo-nents are: the child with his/her freedom of action, motion and choice, the educator as the child's helpmate, and the consciously designed and furnished environment. Montessori's pedagogical concept is all-com-prehensive and global, that is why it can be applied in the most varied cultures and religions. She promoted the individual thinking and deci-sion making of the educators in order to implement her accepted prin-ciples in their own pedagogy and not just expect the method to have its innovative effect. All her life she fought against the interpretation of her theory as being simply an educational method. The article presents the life of Maria Montessori, her pedagogy and her concept on religion and religious education. In the study the author examines some of Maria Montessori's universal and religious pedagogical principles (individual action, activity, the principle of freedom, the psychological principle, the social principle, moral education etc.).

Abstract/Notes: Zusammenfassung. [Summary. Advances in medicine and nursing science, demographic and legal upheavals pose new challenges for nursing education. Action orientation and teachers who promote the learning and development process of their learners are in demand. An answer to these problems in nursing education could be provided by an old, but unexpectedly up-to-date pedagogical concept - Montessori pedagogy, which can be implemented primarily through a solidary teacher personality.]

Abstract/Notes: The purpose of this Bachelor's thesis is to find out children's satisfaction with day care in montessori kindergarten Aurinkoleijona. This study is part of Verkonkutoja-project conducted at Turku University of Applied Sciences. The objective of this research is to create a patern to collect and process customers' feedback. It focuses on five to six years old children in Aurinkoleijona Salo Unit. ”Quality Game” adapted to the children's needs and abilities was used to collect the data. It contained 24 questions considering six themes related to day care: empathy, educational work, circumstances, reliability, responsiveness and assurance. The total of 11 children played the ”Quality Game for Children”: the test group of 3 children in Halikko Unit and 8 children in Salo Unit. The theoretical frame of reference for this thesis was defined in accordance with the quality of day care. It consisted of the facts collected from different sources. The quality of day care is comprised of the experiences of both clients – children and parents – and day care - workers. The quality of day care can be called intersubjective. According to the results, most of the children are satisfied with day care in montessori kindergarten Aurinkoleijona according to the results. Children are especially satisfied with the staff of Aurinkoleijona and its action. All the corresponders can depend on day care adults. Some of the children think that the adults do not have enough time for them. They also give criticism of the day care assignments. The present time and events has an influence on children's satisfaction. There are occasional events in the background of dissatisfaction. Concentration on the game and other children's opinions have an influence on the results. The results show that children are fond of day care theme days, but there is room for improvement. The results of the thesis and the ”Quality Game for Children” will be used in Verkonkutoja-project during next year. Varsinkin tyytymättömyyden taustalla on yksittäiset tapahtumat.

Esperienze e buone pratiche dalla scuola dell'infanzia all'età adulta / The Montessori method in multicultural contexts: Experiences and best practices from kindergarten to adulthood

Abstract/Notes: When Maria Montessori developed her own method, the question of the reception and education of migrant children did not yet arise. Can a Montessori school today give an answer to questions that had not yet been formulated at the time of the Chiaravalle pedagogist? This volume discusses the theme and, starting from the analysis of the principles on which the first Children's Home was founded, bears witness to how the Montessori method can be applied profitably in multi-ethnic classes, from nursery to primary school, and in teaching practice of Italian as L2 for adults with even very distant linguistic backgrounds, including cases of illiteracy. In addition to recounting the concrete experiences of teachers who have worked in multicultural contexts (in Italy, but also in Africa), the author helps to understand the contours of the phenomenon by reporting updated data on the percentage of students of foreign origin in our schools, their origin, the prediction of success and school dropout. A valid contribution on a theoretical and operational level for teachers of method schools and traditional ones and for cultural mediators and operators
