Abstract/Notes: "San Diego, May 2 - Madame Maria Montessori of Rome, Italy, founder of the Montessori system of child-teaching, arrived in San Diego today to confer with the officials of the Panama-California Exposition, City Board of Education, and President of the State Normal School regarding her course in child-teaching †o be conducted in San Diego in July. This course, the first teacher ever given my Madame Montessori in America, will be made a feature of the exposition and will be given in a building especially erected by the exposition according to plans of Madame Montessori. This is part of a four-months' course that Madame Montessori has been engaged to give by the California State Board of Education. She will teacher during May and June in Los Angeles, in San Diego the month of July and at the Panama-Pacific Exposition in San Francisco during August. Madame Montessori is accompanied by Adelia McAlpine Pile, a New York City girl, who has been her pupil and constant companion in Rome for two years. Miss Pile is the teacher's interpreter and will assist her in conducting the summer course."
