Abstract/Notes: The purpose of this study aimed to develop the 2nd grade level-preschool students’ Thai writing skills, as well as to investigate the 2nd grade level-preschool students’ abilities in their critical thinking skills, as well as the 2nd grade level-preschool students’ satisfactions toward the implementation of their Thai writing skills through using the Montessori approach–based instructional visual aids in Anubarn Wiangchai School, the Office of Chiangrai Primary Educational Services Area 1. For research methodology, a lesson plan related to Montessori approach-based Thai instructional management, a learning module on the Montessori approach-based Thai writing skills, a test on preschool student’s Thai writing skills, and a questionnaire related to the 2nd grade level-preschool students’ satisfactions toward the implementation of their Thai writing skills through using the Montessori approach–based instructional visual aids, during the frst semester of the academic year 2013, were all conducted with sixteen preschool students. The fndings of the study were as follows: 1. The 2nd grade level-preschool students’ scores of 51.04% obtained before the implementation of Thai writing skills through using the Montessori approach–based instructional visual aids were higher than that of their scores of 96.66% obtained after the implementation of Thai writing skills through using the Montessori approach–based instructional visual aids were all rated at 96.66%; 2. Their scores obtained after the implementation of the Montessori approach–based learning management on their critical thinking skills were higher than that of their pre-implementation; and 3. The 2nd grade level-preschool students’ satisfactions toward the implementation of their Thai writing skills through using the Montessori approach–based instructional visual aids were also rated at a higher level.

Abstract/Notes: การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อ 1) เพื่อสร้างแผนการจัดประสบการณ์ส่งเสริมวินัยในตนเองตามแนวทางมอนเตสซอรี่ สำหรับนักเรียนชั้นอนุบาลปีที่ 1 ศูนย์พัฒนาเด็กเล็กสองภาษา บ้านเด็กดี จังหวัดเชียงใหม่ 2) เพื่อศึกษาผลการส่งเสริมวินัยในตนเองผ่านกิจกรรมการเรียนรู้ตามแนวทางมอนเตสซอรี่ และเปรียบเทียบความมีวินัยในตนเองของนักเรียนก่อนและหลังการใช้แผนการจัดประสบการณ์การส่งเสริมวินัยในตนเองตามแนวทางของมอนเตสซอรี่ชั้นอนุบาลปีที่ 1 ศูนย์พัฒนาเด็กเล็ก สองภาษา บ้านเด็กดี รูปแบบการวิจัยเป็นแบบกลุ่มทดลองกลุ่มเดียว วัดผลก่อน และหลังการทดลอง (One Group Pretest-Posttest Design) กลุ่มตัวอย่าง คือ นักเรียนชั้นอนุบาลปีที่ 1/2 ศูนย์พัฒนาเด็กเล็ก สองภาษา บ้านเด็กดี ภาคเรียนที่ 2 ปีการศึกษา 2556 จำนวน 23 คน เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการเก็บรวบรวมข้อมูลประกอบด้วย 1) แผนการจัดประสบการณ์ส่งเสริมวินัยในตนเองตามแนวทางของมอนเตสซอรี่ ชั้นอนุบาลปีที่ 1 จำนวน 8 แผน 2) แบบทดสอบวัดพฤติกรรมความมีวินัยในตนเอง ชั้นอนุบาลปีที่ 1 จำนวน 1 ฉบับ และ 3) แบบสังเกตพฤติกรรมความมีวินัยในตนเอง จำนวน 1 ฉบับ โดยวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลการหาความถี่ ร้อยละค่าเฉลี่ยส่วนเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐาน และความแตกต่างของค่าเฉลี่ย แบบ 2 กลุ่มไม่อิสระ (t-test Dependent Sample) ผลการวิจัยพบว่า1. นักเรียนชั้นอนุบาลปีที่ 1 มีวินัยในตนเองโดยมีคะแนนพฤติกรรมความมีวินัยในตัวเองหลังการส่งเสริมความมีวินัยในตนเองผ่านกิจกรรมการเรียนรู้ ตามแนวทางมอนเตสซอรี่ คิดเป็นร้อยละ 98.552. นักเรียนชั้นอนุบาลปีที่ 1 ที่ได้รับการส่งเสริมวินัยในตนเองผ่านกิจกรรมการเรียนรู้ตามแนวทางมอนเตสซอรี่ มีวินัยในตนเองสูงกว่าก่อนได้รับการจัดประสบการณ์ อย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติที่ระดับ / The purpose of this research was to study the results of self-discipline using Montessori approach learning activities in kindergarten students of Ban Dekdee Child-care Center, Chiang Mai. The experiment was conducted 23 kindergarten students through pre-test and post-test designs. Tools for this research were eight Montessori approach learning activities for Kindergarten 1, Pre-test and Post-test designs of Self-discipline for Kindergarten 1 and behavior observation form of self-discipline in three dimensions : ability to obey, ability to follow instructions and ability to perform self-independent skills. The Pre-test and Post-test designs composed of 9 questions with pictorial multiple-choices of two. The data collected are analyzed and correlated to the abilities of self-discipline in young children. The researcher used the Rating scale to score the answers. The answer could be Most, Average and Improved. The data analyzed are used to discover frequency, percentage, variance and standard deviations and T scores. The results showed that 1) after going through Montessori approach of learning activities, students of Kindergarten 1 of Ban Dekdee Childcare Center are equipped in self-discipline. The percentage of self-discipline is 98.55 2) after going through Montessori approach of learning activities, students of Kindergarten 1 of Ban Dekdee have improved in the ability of having self-discipline as .01 of statistical significance as compared with previous state.

Abstract/Notes: The purpose of this research was to 1) study and analyze the classroom research of fifth-year Suan Dusit University pre-service teachers in the Montessori school at the early childhood level during the 2018-2019 academic year 2) to provide guidelines for research planning for primary schools based on the Montessori model to cover all development. The target group was those fifth-year pre-service teachers in their second semester. The instrument used was a survey of their classroom research features. The statistics used for data analysis were frequency, percentage, and content analysis. The results revealed 25 topics of classroom research by those teachers in this program. The topics can be classified according to four developmental aspects in the following order: ten topics dealing with the children’s physical development (40.00%), five topics on their intellectual development (20.00%), one on their emotional and mental development (4.00%), none on their social development (0.00%), and nine topics identified as important skills in the 21st century (36.00%). After the early childhood has been organized according to the Montessori model, the child has higher development in all aspects.

Abstract/Notes: Executive Functions (EF) is a significant skill which should be embedded to the preschool children aged from 3 to 6. This can be carried out by providing diverse experiences and arrange activities which give the opportunity for the preschool children to take actions. The proper level of EF can initiate memory, concentration, and efforts among the preschool children. EF enhance emotional understanding of themselves and others as well. Thus, the preschool children are equipped with self-protection which enables them to happily live in the changing world of 21st century. The Montessori approach encourages the children to learn through self-practice with the equipment arranged by the teachers. “Hands” is the key learning tool which promotes four sides of development along with skills and morality. Grounded on the characteristics, teaching process, and environment of Montessori approach which bring freedom and give opportunity of self-practice to the children through Montessori tools, three groups of EF are enhanced. The three EF groups comprising of basic group, self-directed skills group, and practical skills groups cover nine EF skills: working memory, inhibitory control, shift/cognitive flexibility, focus/attention, emotional control, self-monitoring, initiating, planning and organizing, and goal-directed persistence.

Abstract/Notes: The initial objective of this research is to develop children’s behavior observation skill, a desirable trait for kindergartner through practical study in “the Montessori Pedagogy” course by students in Bachelor of Pedagogy in Childhood’s learning. Secondly, it is aimed to compare children’s behavior in “the pre-and-post research Montessori pedagogy” course. The subjected sample group is selected via purposive sampling from students in senior (4th year) Bachelor of Pedagogy in Childhood’s learning, section A1, academic semester 1/2020 consisted of 26 students. The Research instrument involved the course syllabus of the Montessori Education course and observation form of kindergartner’s trait in children’s behavior observation designed by the researcher. The result of this One-Group pretest-posttest design research reveals that. The Results reveals that 1) The development of kindergartners’ skill in observation of children’s behavior through active learning has increased after the research in comparison to prior to the research. 2) The comparison of development of kindergartners’ skill in observation of children’s behavior in students in Bachelor of Pedagogy in Childhood’s learning whom has been taught through active learning shows a surging pattern in every aspects namely: the average score in Planning aspect has risen from pre-research Mean 1.47, 0.47; the average score in observation and data collection aspect yielded Mean 1.33,0.33; The average score in systemizing and data interpretation aspect yielded higher score than pre-research with Mean 1.21, 0.23; finally, the average score in the aspect for the application of the result has also risen from pre-research with Mean 1.17, 0.20.

Achievement of Montessori Experience Critical thinking skills of preschool children aged 5-6 years from post-study experience higher than before. With statistical significance at the .05 level.

Abstract/Notes: Preparing fourth-year teacher students of Early Childhood Education of Suan Dusit University for professional practicum in the second semester is a way to prepare teacher students before their professional practicum at an educational institution in their fifth year. In doing so, they would be able to apply the experience in real professional practicum. The teacher students in this study at Montessori Centre consisted of two students who learned the context of the institution and received a variety of experience in teaching the Montessori method. According to the observation, the teacher students were limited in demonstrating Montessori materials in terms of sensorial and academic aspects, using English in daily life, and using English for Montessori teaching. Therefore, instructors who are responsible for teaching any subjects relating to Montessori method should integrate English into classroom activities. Moreover, they should raise teacher students’ awareness of knowledge, personality, and using English.

Abstract/Notes: The purpose of this study was to investigate the Montessori teaching and learning environment and suggestion at Boonyasombat Witthaya School, Sawi District, Chumphon Province. The population for the study comprised 34 school personnel, including school administrators, teachers, and assistant teachers. A research instrument was a questionnaire with the reliability of .971. Statistics used in data analysis consisted of percentage, mean,and standard deviation.The findings revealed that the research participants’ comprehension level towards the Montessori teaching and learning environment was at a moderate level in all aspects. When considering each aspect, the results demonstrated that almost all aspects were rated at the highest level. Ranked in descending order by mean of each aspect, the comprehension level results reported as follows: at a moderate level in all aspects. When considering each aspect, the results demonstrated that almost all aspects were rated at the highest level. Ranked in descending order by mean of each aspect, the comprehension level results reported as follows: 1) roles of teachers in Montessori education, 2) learning techniques, 3) Montessori teaching principles, 4) instructional media for language development, and 5) basic knowledge of Montessori approach respectively.

Abstract/Notes: This experimental research aimed to determine the effect of Montessori-based activities program on depression among older persons at a social welfare development center for older persons. The samples consisted of 40 older persons with mild to moderate depression. An experimental group (n = 20) received Montessori-based activity program from August to November 2014; whereas, the control group (n = 20) received routine service. The samples were pair-matched by sex, age, and the depression level. The Montessori-based activity program based on Montessori-based (Montessori, 2011) was developed. The Thai Geriatric Depression Scale with Cronbach’s alpha reliability of .93 was used for data collection. Data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, paired t-test, and independent t-test. The results of this study revealed that 1) for the experimental group, after the experiment, a mean score of depression was statistically significantly lower than that before the experiment (t = 14.233, p < .001); and 2) after the experiment, a mean score of depression of the experimental group was statistically significantly lower than that of the control group (t = 7.830, p < .001). This study suggests that health care providers should apply this program to reduce depression in the older persons and help them conceive health as normal.
