Abstract/Notes: It was reported today that the Santa Cruz Seaside company will soon establish as a permanent feature of the Casa del Rey a school where children between the ages of two and one-half [2 1/2] and six [6] years may be instructed by the Montessori method of teaching. In the establishment of the idea here the management is following out a vogue practiced at several other hotels throughout the country, including the St. Francis hotel in San Francisco. Mrs. Agnes Berne of San Francisco, a student of Madame Montessori's and a cultured woman with command of several languages, has been engaged for the work at the Casa del Rey and expects to hold her first classes about the middle of September. It is understood that the hotel company will provide the rooms and necessary accommodations for the school. Both S. W. Coleman and Manager Cheatham are out of town today so further details of the project were not obtainable.
