Abstract/Notes: Childhood education goes with a lot of innocence, searching and exploring the environment that surrounds the young learners. The amount of energy and inquisitiveness displayed by children at this tender age is a marble to many parents and teachers alike. This small-scale research represents a sincere attempt to contrastively analyze Montessori and Al-Ghazali’s ideas on child education. The ideas of the two scholars, one from the West and the other from the East, till these days have great significance to their respective communities. In a way, this study should be seen as an initiative undertaken in the absence of a study discussing the differences and commonalities found in the ideas of the two scholars pertaining to child education. By employing the textual analysis method and using Montessori’s principles of child education as the framework, the researchers conducted a comparative analysis. In the course of analyzing the data, the researchers had identified six emerging themes in the ideas of Montessori and Al-Ghazali. The findings have also indicated that the principles of these two prominent scholars either intersect with each other or stand in total isolation. ********************************************************* Pendidikan kanak-kanak berlakumalalui proses pencariandan penerokaanterhadap persekitaran mereka. Abstract/Notes: Montessori spaces and materials have often been framed as “gender neutral” or devoid of gendering practices, but there is a lack of research that has critically engaged with gender in Montessori contexts. This chapter explores current efforts to bring gender and sexuality into the conversation in Montessori circles. Using Maria Montessori’s feminist legacy as a springboard, the need for a sustained engagement with contemporary feminist research to complicate understandings of gender is justified. By utilizing contemporary feminist lens, the gender-neutral status of Montessori materials is ruffled and gender within Montessori practice and theory is re-thought as performative, relational, multiple, situated, and complex.

Abstract/Notes: For early childhood children, the ability to read is complex and detailed. In contrast to the ability to speak which can be obtained naturally from their surroundings, the ability to read must be learned with certain methods. Montessori is a children's education method that can optimize children's potential through learning that involves children's sensory and motor aspects in a detailed and fun way. This article is written to explain how early childhood children learn to read using the Montessori method. This research is a qualitative descriptive research. This research method is library research through data collection techniques obtained through books, journals, articles and other supporting sources. The results of this study explain that in the Montessori method, early childhood learns to read in two stages, namely the pre-reading stage and the technical stage of reading. At the Pre-Reading Stage, children can carry out activities such as talking, singing, listening to stories and reading aloud. At the Technical Stage of Reading, children learn to read through letter sounds or phonics using Sand Paper Letters and Movable Alphabet, building words using Object Boxes and Reading boxes, improving reading skills with Word lists, reading silently using Secret Box, introduced to phrases and sentences, understanding the concept of Subject - Predicate - Object - Description, and finally learning to read books. / Bagi anak usia dini, kemampuan membaca adalah hal yang kompleks dan detail.
