Abstract/Notes: The proposal in this study define successful teaching from Hattie et al. (2017) and Grevholm (2012) research results. This is a comparative study with three teaching models in mathematics, Traditional model, Montessori model and Singapore model. The focus is on mathematics teaching in primary school, in Sweden. The study embrace a minor literature study and an interview study with three teachers, who work according the three models in their teaching. I use a socio-cultural perspective on learning, teaching and knowledge. A directed qualitative content analyze is used to analyze both the literature and the interviews. The results show the pros and cons of the three teaching models, according to the requirements of the proposed ideas of successful teaching. The results of the teachers´ statements clarify and problematize the differences between the three educational models in practice.

Abstract/Notes: The purpose of this Bachelor’s thesis is to find out the similarities and differences between traditional pedagogy, Montessori pedagogy and Waldorf pedagogy. We are also interested in finding out how the pedagogies works in practice, which working methods they use and the role of the pedagogue in respective pedagogy. In the theory-part the different pedagogies are presented and their characteristics, founders, view of the children and how the pedagogies are used in daycare are also introduced. We used two qualitative methods in our survey, which are interviews and observation studies in three different day nurseries in Finland. The result of the survey was that the basic thoughts are the same in all three pedagogies, but there were noticeable differences in how the activities are used, how the environment looks like and the view of the humans.

Abstract/Notes: "Mr. Jamshed Nusserwanjee Mehta opened a Montessori School at Karachi during the week-end to serve the Runchore neighbourhood. Mr. Mehta said that the time was past when shool-going children could be ruled by the rod. These methods, he said, induced a fear complex in young children which had disastrous results on them when they grew up. The new institution is under the control of Mr. Kesubhai, who was trained at the Dakshina Murti Bhuvan at Bhavnagar under Mr. Gijubhai, a prominent exponent of the Montessori system in India."
