Was macht dieses Konzept so aktuell? [In 2007, the 100th anniversary of Montessori education was celebrated all over the world. Because in 1907 Maria Montessori (1870-1952) founded her first children's home for 2- to 6-year-old children in the Roman slum district of San Lorenzo. Today there are tens of thousands of Montessori institutions for all ages in 110 countries around the world. What makes this concept so topical? The conference of the German Montessori Association in the anniversary year 2007 investigated this question. The conference contributions, which focus on the theory and practice of pre-school education, are documented in this comprehensive volume, together with some additional articles on current research questions.]
