Abstract/Notes: The Società Umanitaria of Milan, between 1918 and 1923, played an essential role in spreading and developing the Montessori Method. Studying in the Historical Archive of Società Umanitaria the numerous documents there collected, the author reconstructed the crucial moments of the extremely significant collaboration between Maria Montessori and Augusto Osimo, General Secretary of the Società Umanitaria. This complex and in-depth investigation was guided by the analysis, in specific, of the training courses for Montessori teachers organised by Società Umanitaria, essentially unexamined before this study, that allowed the researcher to have a deep insight into the action of Società Umanitaria aimed to promote and implement the Montessori Method in Italy and all around the world.

Abstract/Notes: "Pre-Katrina" and "Post-Katrina" are common terms for time frames these days in New Orleans, often reminding me of the BCE/CE timeline distinctions. You hear "Pre-Katrina" and "Post-Katrina" on the news, in the paper, and in everyday conversations. Although more and more people have moved back to New Orleans, businesses and restaurants are open, the St. Charles streetcar is running again, and normal life is continuing, Hurricane Katrina is still an everyday topic of conversation. In the midst of the constant reminders of the storm, Montessori education proved to be a stabilizing force in our school community. This is the story of how one public Montessori survived and redefined itself after Hurricane Katrina. (Contains 1 footnote.)

Abstract/Notes: Online learning during the Covid-19 pandemic has an impact on the early reading ability of grade 1 elementary school students. Online learning that is carried out in full makes the teacher unable to find out why students are still not fluent in reading. The data found some students do not know the letters and how to pronounce them. The purpose of this study was to determine the initial reading ability of first graders at SDN Pasar Lama 1 Banjarmasin using a Montessori reading book. In addition, to determine the significant effect on learning to use Montessori reading books in improving early reading skills. This study uses an experimental method with t-test analysis. The results showed that the students' initial reading ability increased. The results of the t-test showed a value of 0,026 <0.05, so it can be said that there was a significant difference in the students' initial reading ability who used Montessori reading books with students who studied without using Montessori reading books.
