Abstract/Notes: The purpose of this qualitative descriptive study was to explore how Montessori middle school educators described the use of project-based and student-centered learning to teach social development to their adolescent female students in the southeast region of the United States. The theoretical framework providing a lens for this examination of project-based and student-centered learning and how teachers described how such learning exercised on their students’ social development was Vygotsky’s social learning and development theory. Two research questions were posed for this study. RQ1 asked: How do Montessori middle school educators describe the use of project-based learning to teach social development to their adolescent female students? RQ2 asked: How do Montessori middle school educators describe the use of student-centered learning to teach social development to their adolescent female students? The sample (N = 30) completed 30 questionnaires, 10 individual semi-structured interviews via Zoom, and a 3-member focus group via Zoom. The sampling strategy was purposeful sampling. All participants originated from the southeast region of the United States and represented one school. An open-ended questionnaire, semi-structured interviews, and a focus group were the sources of data. Thematic analysis with an inductive coding approach was performed to identify, analyze, and report patterns emerging from the data. Four key themes emerged: (a) promoting the construction of knowledge; (b) student voice and choice; (c) student ownership and agency; (d) construction of learning. The results highlighted the important role that Montessori middle school educators play when teaching adolescents girls.

Abstract/Notes: This study aims to present the way of enhancing kindergarten teacher's professionalism through pre-service teacher's education. For this, as the study method, the legal qualification criteria of kindergarten teachers were investigated, and the systems of kindergarten teacher education currently for teacher education curriculums of junior colleges that have 2~3 year courses and universities that have 4 year courses were analyzed. The results of the study are as follows. Firstly, all curriculums for pre-service kindergarten teacher education need to be a 4 year bachelor's degree based on the tightening of teacher qualification criteria recently. Secondly, all the institutions for kindergarten teachers should educate the students according to the Nuri curriculum, so that after graduation they can implement the Nuri curriculum efficiently. Consequently, the years required for graduation of junior colleges needs to be extended to 4 year courses gradually, and the curriculum of the courses should be implemented focusing on the Nuri curriculum. / 본 연구는 우리나라 누리과정이 도입되면서 유치원 교사양성교육에 요구되는 교사교육의 전문성제고 방안을 제시하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이에 유치원교사의 국가 자격기준을 검토하고 전문대학과 4년제 대학의 유치원교사 양성 및 양성교육과정 현황을 분석하여 유치원 교사의 전문성제고 방안을 제시하였다. 교사 양성현황은 양성대학 유형과 입학정원, 졸업자 및 취업률, 수업연한, 자격증 발급수. 전문대학 전공심화과정 운영 현황 등을 분석해 제시 했으며, 양성교육과정현황은 교사자격 과목의 이수기준에 비추어 전문대학과 4년제 대학의 교육과정 편성현황을 분석해 제시했다. 유치원 교사의 전문성 제고 방안으로 첫째, 유치원교사 양성교육과정은 교사자격기준을 강화한 표준화 기반의 4년제 학사 과정으로 제고되어야 하며, 둘째, 유치원교사 양성기관은 누리과정 운영에 충실한 교원을 양성해야 한다. 향후 순차적인 전문대학 수업연한의 조정이 요구되며 누리과정 기반의 양성교육과정 운영이 요구된다.

Abstract/Notes: The purpose of this study is to analysis of Montessori sensory education and the math education content commonly included in the national curriculum. The study is based on the theoretical ground that diverse, specific and systematic activities and teaching tools would help efficient teaching of abstract math concepts to young children considering their developmental characteristics. First, the math education content commonly included in the national curriculum(2007 Kindergarten Curriculum and Standard Childcare Curriculum) was analyzed and then used as reference in determining the amount of math education content included in Montessori sensory education. According to this study, even though Montessori sensory education demonstrated limited relevance to number and arithmetics, all other math content was sufficiently addressed. Therefore, the use of Montessori sensory education could be considered an efficient approach to enhancing basic math ability of young children. / 본 연구는 몬테소리 감각교구가 국가수준 교육과정에서 다루고 있는 유아 수학교육 내용을 어느 정도 다루고 있는지 비교함으로써, 유아의 수학적 기초 능력 향상을 위해 몬테소리 감각교구를 활용하기 위한 기초자료를 마련하는 데 그 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 2007년 유치원 교육과정 및 표준보육과정에서 공통적으로 다루고 있는 수학교육내용(수와 연산, 기하, 측정, 규칙성, 자료의 분석)에 따라 몬테소리 감각교구를 분석하였다. 본 연구 결과 몬테소리 감각교구는 수학교육 내용 중 수와 연산과는 비교적 관련성이 적었으나 모든 감각교구가 수학교육 내용을 충분히 다루고 있었다. 따라서 유아의 수학적 기초 능력 향상을 위한 방안으로 몬테소리 감각교구를 활용할 수 있다고 사료된다.

Abstract/Notes: The purpose of this research was to study the curriculum development and implementation in kindergartens using Montessori and Waldorf approaches. The case studies were 3 kindergartens; one Montessori kindergarten and two Waldorf kindergartens. The data collection methods were participant observation, interview and documentation. The findings were: 1. Kindergarten using Montessori Approach The administrator played an important role in curriculum development and implementation. In curriculum development, the content of curriculum was adjusted to Thai contexts in sub-content of three main Montessori's contents for creating its material. In curriculum implementation, larning activities consisted of the set of Montessori activities and group activities which were a part of three main Montessori's contents, i.e., practical life or motor skill, sensory and academy. The group activities are also divided into 2 parts: one was content matter, and the other was a practice. 2. Kindergartens using Waldorf Approach The administrators played an important role in curriculum development and implementation. In curriculum development, the content of Waldorf curriculum was adjusted to Thai context by considering needs of children as well as the children cultural backgrounds. In curriculum implementation, learning activities comprised a play, a main activities, a circle and a story telling. A process of each kindergarten activity was different according to administrator's understanding, experiences and interpretation of Waldorf approach. / การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาการพัฒนาและการใช้หลักสูตรในโรงเรียนอนุบาลที่ใช้แนวคิดทางการศึกษาแบบมอนเตสซอรี่ และวอลดอร์ฟ กรณีศึกษา คือ โรงเรียนที่อนุบาลใช้แนวคิดทางการศึกษาแบบมอนเตสซอรี่ 1 แห่ง โรงเรียนอนุบาลที่ใช้แนวคิดทางการศึกษาแบบวอลดอร์ฟ 2 แห่ง เก็บข้อมูลโดยใช้เทคนิคการสังเกตอย่างมีส่วนร่วม การสัมภาษณ์ และการศึกษาเอกสาร ผลการวิจัยพบว่า 1. โรงเรียนอนุบาลที่ใช้แนวคิดทางการศึกษาแบบมอนเตสซอรี่ ผู้บริหารมีบทบาทสำคัญในการพัฒนาและการใช้หลักสูตร สำหรับการพัฒนาหลักสูตรผู้บริหารจะมีการปรับเนื้อหาให้สอดคล้องกับบริบทสังคมไทย ในส่วนเนื้อหาย่อยของกลุ่มเนื้อหาหลัก(3 กลุ่ม) ซึ่งเป็นแนวทางในการจัดทำชุดอุปกรณ์มอนเตอซอรี่ ในการใช้หลักสูตร มีการจัดกิจกรรมใน 2 ลักษณะ ได้แก่ กิจกรรมมอนเตอซอรี่ มีการจัดการเรียนการสอนตามหลักการแนวคิดมอนเตสซอรี่และกิจกรรมกลุ่มเป็นกิจกรรมที่จัดขึ้นโดยพิจารณาจากเนื้อหาหลัก (3 กลุ่ม) ซึ่งได้แก่ ประสบการณ์ชีวิต หรือทักษะกลไก ประสาทสัมผัส และวิชาการ มีการแบ่งการจัดการเรียนการสอนออกเป็น2 ส่วน คือ ภาคทฤษฎี มีครูเป็นผู้บรรยายความรู้ และภาคปฏิบัติ โดยเน้นให้เด็กลงมือปฏิบัติงานตามที่ได้รับมอบหมาย 2. โรงเรียนอนุบาลที่ใช้แนวคิดทางการศึกษาแบบวอลดอร์ฟ ผู้บริหารมีบทบาทสำคัญในการพัฒนาและการใช้หลักสูตร ในการพัฒนาหลักสูตรผู้บริหารจะมีการปรับเนื้อหาให้สอดคล้องกับบริบทสังคมไทย โดยพิจารณาจากความต้องการของเด็กและสภาพแวดล้อมรอบตัวเด็กเป็นสำคัญ จากนั้นจึงนำข้อมูลมาจัดเป็นเนื้อหากิจกรรมตามหลักการของแนวคิดทางการศึกษาแบบวอลดอร์ฟ ในการใช้หลักสูตร จะมีการจัดกิจกรรมการเรียนการสอนโดยผ่านกิจกรรมการเล่น กิจกรรมประจำวัน กิจกรรมวงกลม และการเล่านิทาน ซึ่งขั้นตอนในการจัดกิจกรรมแต่ละกิจกรรมของโรงเรียน จะแตกต่างกันไปตามความเข้าใจ ประสบการณ์ และการตีความหมายของผู้บริหารที่มีต่อแนวคิดทางการศึกษา
