Abstract/Notes: This study aims to contribute to the evaluation of Montessori education in Italian primary schools, examining a) its impact on academic and socio-affective outcomes; b) teacher profiles and the fidelity of their implementation. The results show that Montessori students, depending on grade and cohort, achieve similar or significantly higher scores than other students. Additionally, in some cases the distributions of math scores have a significantly higher standard deviation. Regarding socio-affective characteristics, Montessori students score significantly higher on the empathy scale. These results, combined with the fact that only half of Montessori teachers have a more orthodox profile, highlight how the Montessori model conflicts with some features of the Italian primary school system. This raises some questions concerning evaluation, limits to children’s freedom of choice and movement, individualization, organization of work time, and multi-age classrooms.

Abstract/Notes: Learning media has an important role in learning mathematics because mathematics is an abstract science and requires a deep understanding of concepts. Students have difficulty in understanding mathematics due to the teacher's monotonous explanation in class without any learning media or epraga tools. Fun learning media is interactive learning media, which allows students to use the media themselves and interact both with other students and with teachers. One example of interactive learning media is Montessori learning media. Based on observations at partner locations, it was found that mathematics teachers in elementary and secondary schools have never used Montessori learning media, therefore training on the use of Montessori-based learning media is needed for elementary and secondary school teachers so that classroom learning runs optimally in accordance with learning objectives. Training on the use of Montessori-based learning media has a positive impact on teachers, it can be seen from the final questionnaire of the training participants provide positive feedback, to this training activity, namely with data interpretation of 96%.

Abstract/Notes: The current study aims to explore the effectiveness of Montessori Method in the Algerian EFL primary classrooms. This research was conducted through mixed method (qualitative and quantitative methods), and the data was collected through Observation and questionnaire. For the observation, the participants were third year EFL primary teacher and her learners, who are 30 students divided into 17 girls and 13 boys, in Saad Saoud El Messoud primary school in Bordj Bou Arreridj, Algeria. The participants of the questionnaire were 30 EFL primary teachers, it is an online questionnaire conducted through Google form platform. The aim of the research is to find out whether the EFL primary teachers are implementing the principles of the MM or not, and to figure out if the manners, actions, and behaviours used by the teacher are appropriate for the learning process or not. However, after the answers of the questionnaire and the 9 hours of observation during 3 months, the authors find out that the MM is not implemented by the EFL primary teachers, because there is no freedom, no choices, and no appropriate materials and environment for the young learners. Thus, the findings encourage the need for the EFL teachers to identify and imitate the aspects of the Montessori Method

Abstract/Notes: Pronunciation is one of important aspects in English and one of the necessary components of oral communication. The purpose of this research is to find out Montessori Method and Demonstration Method effect on students’ Achievement in Pronunciation at Nakamura School. The method of this research based on experimental quantitative research doing with using a number, statistics process and structure. The population of this research will use to the primary 1 students of Nakamura School Medan. The writer used simple Random Sampling that is subset of individuals 9 a sample (chosen from a larger set 9 a population), each individual is chosen randomly and entirely. After collecting and analyzing the data, it was found that the lowest score of pre-test in experimental group was 20 and the highest score was 40 and the mean of pre-test was 30.00 and after administrated the method of Montessori method, the researcher found the lowest score of students’ pronunciation was 40 and the highest score was 80 and the mean of post-test was 61.43. It means that there was 20 (40-20) difference of the lowest score in pre-test and post-test. The mean score of the pre-test was 30.00, and the post-test is 61.43 (61.43 – 30.00 = 31.43). It can be concluded that the students’ scores in pre-test of experimental group was smaller than post-test, which was using Montessori method. The lowest score of pre-test in experimental group by Demonstration method was 10 and the highest score was 30, and the mean of pre-test was 22.86. After post-test was administered, the lowest score in experimental group was 50 and the and the highest was 80 and the mean of post-test was 61.43. The lowest score significantly improved. It means that the difference of the score was 50 (100-50). It also happened to the highest score, 80 improved to 100 (100-80 = 20). It means that the difference of the score was 30. The mean of pre-test was 22.86 and post-test was 61.43 (61.43- 22.86= 38.27). It can be concluded that the students’ score in the experimental group which was taught by applying Montessori method was significantly different and the students’ score in pre-test of experimental group was smaller than post-test , which was Demonstration method.
