Abstract/Notes: Easy Montessori Manager is dedicated to all the schools in Malaysia which are using the Montessori approach. It resembles an online management system but specifically designed for Montessori preschools and inclusive of Montessori Methods and for teachers' guidelines and assessments. A preliminary study was conducted to investigate the need of an online Montessori module by doing a survey. The survey is conducted by using questionnaires which are distributed to four Montessori schools in Selangor. From the result of the study, a prototype of the actual system is developed in order to get a general idea on how the system should look like. Afterward, the prototype is then evaluated by a Montessori principal to get her opinion on a good Montessori management system.

Abstract/Notes: This chapter problematises notions of pedagogy as being limited to teaching-learning practices within the classroom and explores what pedagogy could be like when education goes beyond transfer of content knowledge or development of skills and competencies. The chapter emphasises that education for harmony is brought about by a continuum of shared lived experiences and that these are not just engendered through classroom practices, but also by the culture and people within the school. It emphasises the importance of classroom and school-wide ethos, Teacher Student Relations, and autonomous behaviour regulation as underpinning the continuum of lived experiences.

Abstract/Notes: One of the pre-school education programs widely implemented in our country is the Montessori education approach developed by Montessori. The impact of the Montessori approach, which places a lot of emphasis on the prepared environment, the materials that make up this environment, and the prepared adult instructor, on the classroom management practices of instructors, cannot be ignored. In order to determine the applications applied to classroom management by Montessori instructors working in early childhood classes where Montessori education approach is applied in public and private preschool education institutions in Turkey, this research was created in a qualitative research pattern by adopting a phenomenological approach. In educational settings, the phenomenological approach is used to make concrete the participants ' knowledge, perception, experience and feelings about the identified phenomenon. The phenomenon covered in this study is the classroom management practices of Montessori instructors who are working at the early childhood level within preschool education institutions in our country. The Working Group consists of 13 preschool teachers and master instructors who are Montessori instructors. The "criteria sampling" method was used to determine the Working Group. It is taken as criteria by the researcher that the instructors are employed in the kindergarten or kindergarten level of 3-6 years of early childhood, have received Montessori instructor training from a formal educational institution and have completed one-year internship periods and have earned the right to receive their certificates. All of the data were collected in the 2019-2020 school year. Personal data form and structured interview and follow-up interview were used as data collection tools. Interviews with participants were conducted individually and face-to-face. The data obtained; it is collected under four dimensions in the form of the regulation of the physical environment, communication and behavior management, time management, and plan and program studies. According to the results of the research, Montessori instructors ' applications for these four dimensions have similarities and differences with the studies that have been done, and they relate these practices to the three basic elements of classroom management: "prepared environment", "prepared adult" and "learning materials". The findings were discussed within the framework of the studies in the field.

Abstract/Notes: This study was initiated to determine the effects of relationship-driven classroom management on positive behaviors in the lower elementary classroom. The research was conducted in a rural public Montessori school. Students were carefully observed to determine behavioral norms. Next, they were invited to participate in a survey to establish their current perception of positive relationships within their school and particularly with myself as a guide. Subsequently, I conducted a family survey, recorded daily observation of positive behaviors, and collected samples of student work during the research period. Finally, I re-administered the students survey to determine if they believed their relationships had improved. Although the test period was short, there was a noticeable improvement in positive behavior in the classroom. I observed a reduction in off task behaviors, an increase in independent work, and an improvement in both the quantity and quality of follow-up work students produced. I anticipate the ongoing practice of relationship-driven classroom management strategies will continue to reduce misbehavior and create a more peaceful classroom. In the future, I will focus on preventative rather that reactive management. I will also be conscious to notice the positive. It is clear that a peaceful and positive environment increases productivity, learning, and feelings of success. This research empowered me to always look more deeply for the why behind the what.

Abstract/Notes: The investigation was intended to find the effect of teacher interactions on classroom control and management in a Montessori environment. The research was conducted in three Montessori classrooms of early childhood: two primary and one toddler, in a private school. The participants were the lead teachers of each classroom and selected parents who have had two or more children in different classrooms. The data collection instruments used were observations and interviews with teachers, surveys with parents, analyzing student records and student work samples. The data showed that positive teacher interactions and positive usage of language had a great impact on classroom management and negative interactions and poor communications had a negative effect on classroom management. Further, the teachers had better control and management of the classroom if they had more knowledge of Montessori principles and adhered to those guidelines. The result of the research indicates that teachers who had more training, experience and knowledge may have better classroom management and also the capability to work within Montessori guidelines and principles.

Helping Third-Grade Students with Task Management in a Montessori Classroom

Available from: St. Catherine University

Abstract/Notes: In this study, ten third-grade students in a Montessori classroom were observed and encouraged to discover strategies to help them manage their coursework. The teacher facilitated individual conferences with each student that focused on developing specific independent work time strategies. The students also had the opportunity to assemble a portfolio and to reflect on their progress. In addition, quantitative data was collected that focused on student engagement and work completion. The study revealed that students were drawn to larger projects, particularly in history and geography. They were also drawn to work that would need little to no guidance to complete. Based on these findings, to engage students in various subject areas there should be opportunities for one-on-one feedback and for large, culminating projects as long as all necessary resources for completion are easily accessible to students.
