Abstract/Notes: Bu araştırmada, Montessori yaklaşımı doğrultusunda gerçekleştirilen öğretmen eğitimi ve eğitim ortamının düzenlenmesi sonucu üç, dört ve beş yaş (36-72 ay) grubundaki (deney ve kontrol grubu) çocuklara verilen Montessori yaklaşımına dayalı eğitimin çocukların gelişim alanları üzerindeki etkisini saptamak amaçlanmıştır. / The present study was aimed at determining the development levels of children aged three, four and five (36-72 months) attending Ankara University Practice Preschool 1, and the effect of Montessori educational approach on their areas of development. A pretest, posttest, retention test experimental design with control group was adopted in the study to determine the effect of Montessori educational approach on children’s areas of development. The experimental group consisted of children attending Ankara University Practice Preschool 1, while the control group consisted of attending a randomly selected university preschool with similar qualifications. The General Information Form was used for data collection purposes, while the Developmental Profile 3 (DP-3) developed by Alpern (2007) and the Developmental Indicators for the Assessment of Learning 4 (DIAL-4) developed by Mardell and Goldenberg (1998) whose validity and reliability studies were used as assessment tools to evaluate children’s areas of development. Prior to the implementation of Montessori education, Montessori educational environment was prepared and a developmental assessment laboratory was set up. Thereafter, teachers received the Montessori Practitioner Training. DIAL-4 results according to teachers’ opinions revealed significant differences between the children in experimental and control groups in self-help skills and social emotional development subscale scores, while according to parents’ opinions, there were significant differences in the self-help skills subcale and overall development scores. DP-3 results revealed significant differences between the children in experimental and control groups in the adaptive behavior subscale according to teachers’ opinions, and physical development, cognitive development and communication subscale scores, as well as, overall development scores of the DP-3 according to parents’ opinions.

Abstract/Notes: Under 1900-talets första decennier vann den italienska läkaren Maria Montessori berömmelse som pedagogisk förnyare. / During the first decades of the 20th century, the Italian physician Maria Montessori gained fame as an educational innovator. The liberal spirit and exemplary discipline of her preschools and schools amazed the outside world. But Montessori would not just launch a new pedagogy. During the interwar period, when her method had a major impact internationally, she took on the role of culturally critical movement leader. With slogans about the child's liberation and the reconstruction of society, the movement recruited many enthusiastic supporters. In the press of that time, Montessori was spoken of in similar terms as feminism, Freudianism, and Marxism. Expectations of what Montessori could achieve outside the school gates were high. In Montessori's educational empire, Christine Quarfood, based on extensive historical source material, highlights the Montessori movement as a culturally critical and opinion-forming current. The book highlights the multifaceted in the movement's message, in addition to the psychopedagogical theme also the politically and socially charged issues around power and authority issues, war and peace that are addressed in the movement's writings. The main focus is on reception in the countries where the movement had the greatest impact, the United States during the First World War, England in the 1920s, and Mussolini's Italy, where the Montessori movement received the support of the fascist regime from 1926 to 1934.

A 3-Year Study Of Self-Regulation In Montessori And Non-Montessori Classrooms

Abstract/Notes: Albert Bandura, the leading pioneer in the study of self-regulation, has defined the term as the child's ability to self-educate, self-direct, regulate motivation, and learn to think about what she is learning (1994). Lev Vygotsky's theory that children can be taught to think independently about how to solve problems expands upon Bandura's work (1978). Though Montessori did not use the term "self-regulation," the descriptions of inner discipline, or "normalization," in her writings are clearly related to this concept. Because Montessori classrooms emphasize developing behaviors associated with self-regulation, Lander University's Montessori Teacher Education Program chose to focus on this as a topic of research in a 3-year study funded by a 2004 congressionally directed grant. Findings showed positive results for Montessori children in ratings of self-regulation and academic performance which affirm the effectiveness of Montessori classroom practice in fostering positive work habits and internal motivation. The authors hope that these results will lead more public school administrators, particularly those in small rural settings where programs of school choice are rare, to consider Montessori a viable option. Abstract/Notes: The Montessori method is a method of teaching children according to their childhood personality. This method focuses the attention of children individually (child/student focus), focuses on practical life skills, freedom, independence, and pays attention to the child's sensitive period. As a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, learning is carried out online using multimedia technology with an internet network with the flexibility of being able to hold meetings between teachers and children to carry out learning interactions. The purpose of this study was to describe the implementation of learning through the Montessori method during the covid-19 pandemic. Research subjects were selected using a non-probable sampling technique: target sampling (sampling with certain considerations). This study used five subjects at Kinderworld Montessori: the principal, two teachers at Kindergarten 1 and Kindergarten 2, and 2 parents. This research was analyzed by descriptive qualitative method. This study uses in-depth interviews and documentation to collect data with the analysis process using the Miles & Huberman method, namely, through four stages, namely data reduction, data display, conclusions and data verification. Based on the results of interviews with research subjects, it can be concluded that, during a pandemic learning activities using the Montessori method can be said to be relatively going well, but the percentage is not up to 100% as when learning is done offline, the reason is because the materials used when doing Montessori activities are substituted. or replaced with equipment that is relatively the same as the equipment available at home, even so the teacher still ensures that the learning outcomes of the Montessori Method are achieved well.
