Abstract/Notes: Maria Montessori’s foundational work with poor children in Rome was reincorporated as a central mission of the organization, Educateurs sans Frontières (EsF), founded by the Association Montessori Internationale in 1999. EsF’s aims to expand access to Montessori to indigenous peoples and other vulnerable populations, such as those affected by poverty, displacement, and discrimination, and to expand Montessori’s ideas to support people at all stages of their lives. EsF connects a global network of changemakers, advocates for children’s rights, and provides support for global Montessori initiatives. The chapter profiles two EsF initiatives, Corner of Hope, a Montessori school for internally displaced persons in Kenya and Born Inside, a program for incarcerated mothers in the United Kingdom.

Abstract/Notes: La place des bénévoles entre professionnels et familles n’est pas toujours confortable, le sujet est vaste, mon propos n’est pas d’en débattre ici mais de réfléchir à la possibilité d’un mode d’accompagnement permettant aux familles, professionnels et bénévoles de relayer une présence adaptée auprès des personnes âgées désorientées. S’agissant de soulager des professionnels et des familles dépassés par l’ampleur du sujet, les uns par manque de temps, les autres submergés par l’émotion, il nous faudra explorer ces deux composantes majeures de la relation d’aide que sont précisément le temps et l’émotion, la troisième composante étant la perspective de la mort. Je ne crois pas que la vieillesse soit un « naufrage ». Étant de ceux qui pensent que chacun souhaite trouver un sens à sa vie, j’y vois simplement une urgence à conclure. Militant pour la place des personnes âgées dans la société, je reconnais cependant que la démence et les comportements qui lui sont assortis viendraient facilement écorner mon idéal d’une vieillesse pleine de sagesse, contredire l’idée d’une exemplarité de nos aînés, du fait qu’ils soient un exemple à suivre et contrevenir jusqu’à l’idée que je me fais des règles de savoir-vivre. Comment ne pas s’indigner devant certains comportements de personnes âgées désorientées placées en maison de retraite qui insultent leurs voisins de table à tout bout de champ, importunent leurs enfants par téléphone 25 fois par jour et 24 heures/24 heures alors même qu’elles oublient ou confondent leurs prénoms, réclament leurs parents décédés depuis bien longtemps …

Abstract/Notes: La presente investigación tuvo por objetivo determinar la influencia de los materiales sensoriales Montessori para desarrollar la noción de seriación en infantes de 5 años de la Institución Educativa San José La Pascana, Comas - 2016, el tipo de investigación fue aplicada con un diseño específico cuasiexperimental con grupos intactos (Grupo Experimental y Grupo de Control). La población estuvo conformada por 50 infantes, de los cuales estuvieron distribuidos en un Grupo de Control (aula Naranja) de 25 infantes y un Grupo Experimental (aula Celeste) de 25 infantes, la muestra fue de tipo censal debido a que se trabajó con toda la población. Asimismo, para el recojo de la información se empleó la técnica de la observación y como instrumento se utilizó la escala de tipo Likert, el cual constó de 20 ítems que permitieron medir los niveles que transitan los infantes en la noción de seriación, a su vez en el análisis descriptivo se utilizó el software IBM SPSS versión 22, el cual permitió obtener resultados confiables con las tablas de frecuencias y figuras en barra, con respecto al análisis inferencial nos permitió contrastar las hipótesis con los diagramas de cajas y bigotes. A través del estudio realizado se pudo evidenciar que después de aplicar el programa, el 84% de los infantes alcanzó un nivel de logro en el desarrollo de la noción de seriación. Por tanto, se concluyó que el uso de materiales sensoriales Montessori mejoró significativamente en el desarrollo de la noción de seriación en infantes de 5 años de la Institución Educativa San José la Pascana, Comas - 2016. [The present research aimed to determine the influence of Montessori sensory materials to develop the notion of seriation in 5-year-old infants of the San José La Pascana Educational Institution, Comas - 2016, the type of research was applied with a specific quasi-experimental design with intact groups (Experimental Group and Control Group). The population consisted of 50 infants, of which they were distributed in a Control Group (Orange classroom) of 25 infants and an Experimental Group (Celeste classroom) of 25 infants, the sample was of a census type due to the fact that all the population. Likewise, to collect the information, the observation technique was used and the Likert-type scale was used as an instrument, which consisted of 20 items that allowed to measure the levels that infants travel in the notion of seriation, in turn, in the descriptive analysis, the IBM SPSS version 22 software was used, which allowed obtaining reliable results with the tables of frequencies and figures In bar, with respect to the inferential analysis, it allowed us to contrast the hypotheses with the box-and-whisker diagrams. Through the study carried out, it was possible to show that after applying the program, 84% of the infants reached a level of achievement in the development of the notion of seriation.
