Abstract/Notes: An important aspect that determines learning success is the learning method used by the teacher. Teacher prospective teachers should have broad insights related to learning methods. Prospective teachers and teachers need to vary the learning model. Montessori method is one method that follows the natural tendencies of children and teachers need to prepare learning that follows the stages of child development. Based on these thoughts, community service is carried out to help prospective teachers and teachers' insights about the Montessori method. The sequence of community service activities is the training and mentoring of prospective teachers, the implementation of learning by the Montessori method by prospective teachers, evaluation and reflection on the results of implementation, preparation of training materials for elementary school teachers, and the activity ends with the evaluation and training of Montessori methods for elementary teachers. The result of community service is that prospective teachers are happy to have classroom experience and 100% of students are happy because they are involved in innovative learning activities, the Montessori method. In addition, teachers also get experience training in Montessori methods.

Abstract/Notes: Language is a very socially important and basic structure of thought. It allows the child to integrate into society and dealing with abstract concepts. The principle of language education is that Montessori language is attached to human life; language is a form of sound or image that represents human perception of objective or subjective life. Thus, Maria's principle of language development is attached to things, from abstract objects to linguistic sounds, and from linguistic sounds to symbolic characters. This article systematizes Maria Montessori's core views on children’s language acquisition as well as the principles affecting this process. Subsequently, it analyzes the development principles of the Montessori method as a basis for lesson and teaching tools development for Vietnamese language education.

Abstract/Notes: This thesis explores the teaching of English as a second language in a Montessori school environment. The theoretical part of the thesis provides a summary of the Montessori teaching principles and their application to language teaching, including an examination of second language acquisition. The practical part of the thesis involves observing English lessons in Montessori environment, analysing relevant documents, and creation of teaching materials specifically adjusted to the Montessori approach. The ultimate goal of this research is to identify effective teaching strategies and materials for teaching English as a second language in Montessori schools, while also contributing to a deeper understanding of the Montessori approach to education. Both qualitative and quantitative data collection methods were used to determine the quality, accuracy and effectiveness of the materials. The created materials are enclosed to the appendices. / Tato práce se zabývá výukou angličtiny jakožto druhého jazyka v prostředí Montessori školy. Teoretická část práce obsahuje shrnutí principů Montessori pedagogiky a jejich aplikaci na výuku jazyků, včetně průzkumu osvojování druhého jazyka. Praktická část práce zahrnuje pozorování výuky angličtiny v Montessori prostředí, analýzu relevantních dokumentů a tvorbu výukových materiálů specificky upravených pro Montessori přístup. Ke zjištění kvality, přesnosti a účinnosti vytvořených a implementovaných materiálů byly vybrány kvalitativní i kvantitativní metody sběru dat. Konečným cílem tohoto výzkumu je identifikovat efektivní výukové strategie a materiály pro výuku angličtiny jako druhého jazyka v Montessori školách a zároveň přispět k hlubšímu pochopení Montessori přístupu ke vzdělávání. Vyrobené pomůcky jsou k nahlednutí v příloze.

Abstract/Notes: The study examined the Assessment of instructional materials and strategies for teaching Montessori pupils English language in Nigeria: Two research questions guided this study while two hypotheses were tested at 0.05 level of significance. Descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study. The population for the study was 351 respondents which comprised 118 male and 233 female teachers respectively. The sample size of the study still stood at 351 because the population was manageable. The instrument for data collection was the researcher developed questionnaire titled: “Assessment of instructional material, and strategies for teaching Montessori pupils English language in Nigeria (ASIMS): The instrument was validated by three specialist, two specialist in the Department of Art and Social Sciences Education from Godfrey Okoye University Thinkers Corner Enugu, Enugu State of Nigeria, one specialist in Measurement and Evaluation from Enugu State University of Science and Technology. To ascertain the internal consistency of the instrument, Crombach Alpha was used. The computation yielded 0.79 for cluster A, 0.82 for cluster B,. The instrument has an overall reliability index of 0.80 which indicates that the instrument is reliable and, therefore, considered appropriate for use.Mean scores and standard deviation were used to answer the research questions and t-test statistic was used to test the hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. The findings of the study showed, that there are instructional materials available for teaching Montessori pupils English Language. Teachers agree that Montessori Education methods is appropriate, and a host of other findings. Based on the findings of the study, the researcher recommended that Enugu State of Nigeria as a matter of priority endeavour to allocate adequate instructional materials for proper enhancement of academic achievement of Montessori pupils.

Abstract/Notes: The Ontario Human Rights Commission's inquiry into how reading (an essential human right) is taught in Ontario schools revealed that Ontario’s public education system is “failing students...by not using evidence-based approaches to teach them to read.” This thesis aimed to address this failure by proposing Montessori language curriculum as a viable alternative to the current (ineffective) practices. The validity of both the new Ontario language curriculum and the Montessori language curriculum were assessed through the use of The Reading League’s Curriculum Evaluation Guidelines (CEG) and their associated workbook. The Ontario language curriculum was found to be lacking, particularly in terms of its lack of clarity, and guidance with regards to practical implementation. The Montessori language curriculum on the other hand was found to meet or surpass the Ontario Human Rights Commission’s recommendations, and in a way that can tangibly be understood and implemented. In light of these findings, Ontario school boards should seriously consider adopting Montessori language curriculum, in whole or in part, to address the systemic reading crisis. All educational stakeholders have a role to play in safeguarding children’s right to read.
