The Montessori method seems to be well established in the landscape of alternative pedagogies today. Its particularities: a heritage of the Progressive Education, a rupture of the formal schooling, but also through the intermediary of a mediating material, a change in the educational relationship between adults and children. How can it be qualified? What are its specificities, its invariants? Because it is based on values related to the development of the student, to his capacities, to his successes; but also on a very particular role of the adult educator, sufficiently step back in order not to disturb the pupil, while being a resource, a crutch, a source of motivation to start working, this method seems, for these reasons, to contribute to the well-being of the student in school. Should it be an educational ethic based on empathy? It is by putting into perspective some writings of the pedagogue with examples of class situations that we propose to reflect on this question, by adopting a research posture that mixes textual hermeneutics and ethnographic observation.

[When we think of special education, since we seek efficient ways to work properly and efficiently, then enter the search defend the Montessori Theory, created by Anna Freud Maria Montessori as the best way of working, because we understand as educators that to educate is something poetic, which depends not only on basic theory, but on the love that binds us to this profession. This work, whose primary objective is the completion of the master program, presented in the course of research a new vision and basis for the profession. Seeking solutions and immediate changes in the daily work in the classroom. Knowing the theory leads us to a modification in everyday school life, from the way we look at our students to the structural basis of the classroom. This work has as methodology a descriptive form, which according to Lakatos (1997) exposes the research material already published and renowned authors for its execution.]

Abstract/Notes: The study aims to investigate a topic less debated in Montessori studies, which is the theme of childbirth, essential for the application of the Montessori’s method in all age groups and also to children aged from zero to three years old. For this reason Maria Montessori’s little known writings are deliberately considered. These writings are very significant for the reconstruction of her educational thinking which has always seen the childbirth as the starting point for a reflection of the newborn education and a transformation of humanity considering a review of its educational processes. This reflection is indispensable today in the absence of specific training courses to “welcome the secret of the child who comes into the world” which were the educational courses for birth attendants starting from the end of the 1940s. Tracing the history of these Montessori educational courses and of the great personalities who have designed them, can be used to rethink Montessori differentiating instruction courses in order to acquire skills related also to welcome the newborn. This means adding in these educational courses specific learning modules about “education from birth” according to a definition beloved by Montessori.

[A significant number of french preschool teachers are currently changing their usual pedagogical methods by instilling elements from Montessori pedagogy into their practice. Concerning spatial organization, pedagogical material, uses of time, or adult’s role, these practices are very heterogeneous and more or less orthodox. This article seeks to categorize them by distinguishing practices within a weak or strong Montessori commitment. In both cases, it’s also a question of inexorable limits to the importation of Montessori pedagogy into public french preschool, due to programmes and institutional framework. This whole reasoning is an opportunity for reflection on partial pedagogical loans, when elements of a pedagogy are taken up without necessarily all its founding principles.]
