Abstract/Notes: This paper lends insight into the fundamental postulates of Montessori pedagogyand definitions of contemporary educational neuroscience, focusing on the needsand solutions of contemporary didactic approaches. By presenting the results ofcontemporary researches, the paper connects the achievements of Montessoripedagogic methods and strategies with the scientific indicators of educationalneuroscience about the manners of positive impact on the development of anindividual. The results of the educational neuroscience research will corroborate thepostulates of Montessori pedagogy that state that understanding the developmentalstages of upbringing, individual competences, and specificities of each child areimportant for upbringing. Specific cases will be used to emphasize that, apartfrom the cognitive competence, it is essential to develop psychomotor and affectivecompetences, meaning that the development of these personality spheres isconnected and interdependent. By providing the pedagogic perspective, the paperpoints to the need for further deliberation on how to shape an optimal curriculum. The paper suggests that various social and technological changes are reasons toconsider pedagogic methods, strategies, and approaches of Montessori, which is alsosupported and substantiated by contemporary educational neuroscience.Key words: didactics; Montessori pedagogy; neurodidactics; neuroscience. [The objective was to present reflections on the contributions of the Maria Montessori Method in a current context, considering the development of the child's autonomy in the early years of Basic Education. As for the method, a bibliographic review research was carried out, taking into account the contributions of several authors, observing the characteristics of Montessori Padagogy and its methodological and didactic reflections on the development of children's autonomy in basic education and its performance in Brazil, succeeding with the theoretical and methodological approach of Traditional Pedagogy and of Waldorf Pedagogy to support the reflective analysis of the Montessori model. With the results, it was noticed that Montessori Pedagogy is present in 62 educational units distributed in all Brazilian regions, which can be understood as a pedagogical alternative aligned with the regulatory principles of BNCC and PCN, and there was a lack of studies that point to the development of Montessori Pedagogy in public schools that provide services to Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education. It can be concluded that Montessori Pedagogy has been making a significant contribution to the learning of children in their educational development with autonomy and freedom, and through playful approaches and application of the model in cycles by age group, stimulates the construction of knowledge and better interaction in the educational environment.]

Abstract/Notes: The article is a presentation of a model of work with the elderly based on the principles of Maria Montessori pedagogy. The described model provides support for elderly people (also with cognitive deficits) not only in retaining maximum independence and highest possible level of intellectual functions, but also in their development through success-focused learning. Chosen elements adopted from Maria Montessori’s pedagogy such as prepared environment, specific didactic materials, and teacher/companion enable the classes’ participants to learn with joy, enjoying autonomy, respect and dignity. Abstract/Notes: Specifična slika djeteta u Montessori pedagogiji utječe na značajke Montessori odgojitelja, njegovu osobnu i stručnu pripremu te njegovu unutarnju pripremu. [A specific picture of the child in Montessori pedagogy affects the qualities of Montessori educators, their personal and professional preparation and their internal preparation. This paper analyses the specifics of the mentioned pedagogy regarding the child, the educator and the prepared environment. Montessori pedagogy counts on periods or times of special sensitivity in children and attaches great developmental and educational importance to them, so that, should the child successfully pass each of the periods, it is necessary for adults to follow and respond to the needs of the child. At the end of the paper we will highlight the child’s main developmental characteristics and understanding of the child according to this pedagogy.]
