Abstract/Notes: Educational toys are toys that provide certain learning opportunities to users (children). Educational toys are one way to introduce children to learning through interesting media, without any coercion from teachers or parents. One of them is about introducing mathematics to children aged 3-6 years through educational toys. This is inseparable from the Covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia which requires all activities in the school environment to be temporarily moved to their respective homes. Therefore, the design of this educational toy is a strategy to optimize the learning process. The formulation of the design problem is how this educational toy can function effectively, efficiently and attractively when used by children based on Montessori education. The purpose of this design is to introduce children to basic mathematics through interesting educational toys, without being forced by parents. This educational toy design method adopts the Montessori educational method. The result of this design is an educational toy with counting functions from 1 to 10 and games based on Montessori learning, providing a more enjoyable learning experience.

Abstract/Notes: Abstract Montessori has become one of early learning methods chosen by Indonesian parentsat this moment, formally through education institution, or informally through selflearning at home (Bigceglia, 2014; Woo, 2014); both dedicated for normal and special needs kids (Cipta, et al,, 2019). Montessori education needs Montessori aparatus(specially designed Montessori tools to support sensorial learning) which is relativelyexpensive. Early learning education is normally done within 2-3 hours at school, thusthese toddlers spend most of their time at home. Thus it is clear there is need for parents to stimulate them in the right way, one of the way is by providing Montessoriaparatus or other more affordable sensorial toys. Using multiple methods of data gathering (primary & secondary), toy redesign, design iteration, user product trial andreview; the result of this research is 12 new Montessori toys integrated in coffee table, which add values in terms of multifunction, price, quality, and still apply Montessoriconcept.

Abstract/Notes: Preschool education programs jointly focus on supporting the child's physical, mental, emotional, and social development; and helping them know themselves by gaining self-control. The preschool period is also the beginning of the process in which children aged 0-6 begin to socialize with other children and adults. How this socialization and knowledge transfer will occur varies according to the approaches used in preschool education. The division of the learning environment into functions and the provision of the environment need to be expected from each function, with furniture and other elements become as important as the learning approach. The interior and furniture needs, which change according to the focus of the educational approach, form the essence of this study. Within the scope of the study, four different educational approaches and educational environment expectations were examined. These approaches were determined as Montessori, Reggio Emilia, HighScope, and Waldorf, and the educational philosophy of each approach and the changing spaces and furniture were evaluated.

Abstract/Notes: Montessori is a method of education that is based on self-directed activity, hands-on learning and collaborative play. This method based on observations and evaluations of a student’s development, which is a fundamental key of the Montessori Method. Color is one of the fundamental elements of art. It is important for art students to not only be exposed to color theory, but to understand it. By studying colors, students are able to embrace their own creativity and create their own masterpieces; one of the introductory art lessons is that of mixing colors and understanding the color wheel. The researcher chose this method to help beginning students grasp the concepts of color theory and color schemes to help them advance through the curriculum with new skills. Hence the research problem is to use general rules and concepts of Montessori to achieve a new method of color education to reform student’s knowledge, self-confidence, self-correction and their own abilities in using colors.

Abstract/Notes: This study aims to analyze the interior design of a learning space based on three alternative teaching models applied nowadays. The study gathers the overall information of interior space design, alternative teaching models, children’s needs and analyzes the interaction of the three selected teaching models with classroom design, besides it suggests what educational institutions can do at a general level to contribute to the improvement of early education. The study is designed using descriptive research model, scientific observation and to collect factual data 72 teachers from Ankara (Turkey) were surveyed. Three different schools were analyzed by means of teaching model application within interior space design, a survey was administered in order to determine how classroom design supports the teaching-learning process and follows the principles of the teaching models. Research findings suggest that special attention should be given to classroom interior design since young children’s behavior and social interactions with their peers and teachers are influenced by the spatial arrangement in classrooms. Likewise if the interior design of the classroom is based on teaching models’ learning outcomes, the capacity and attitude of both teacher and student in the educational process are improved, while appropriate conditions are created for a pedagogical practice in the classroom.
