Abstract/Notes: Instead of showing mathematics as a lesson Montessori helps children to see the mathematics that it is the most essential part of life. Generally, in our country people have prejudice about the mathematics that it is very difficult and it cannot be learned easily. The reason of this prejudice is teaching mathematisc with abstract examples. Montessori, teaches mathematics by using concrete materials. The aim of this study is, to evaluate the effects of Montessori program in teaching mathematic to 5 and 6 year old children. Hence, of the 40 preschool participants of this research 20 of them were going to school were Montessori method was utilized while not so at the school where the other 20 were going. The interview form composed by the researcher and the data analysed with Nvivo program. / Montessori, matematiği çocukların hayatına bir ders olarak sunmayıp, daha çok hayatı basitleştiren bir bilgi, hayatın bir parçası olarak sunmaktadır. Genel olarak ülkemizde matematik öğrenimine, çok zor olduğu, asla öğrenilemeyeceği şeklinde olumsuz bir ön yargı ile yaklaşılmaktadır. Bu yargının nedeni matematik öğrenim tarzının, genel olarak soyut uygulamalarla öğretilmeye çalışılmasından kaynaklanmaktadır. Montessori matematik eğitimi, yıllarca oynamaktan büyük bir haz duyduğu somut bazı materyalleri kullanarak verilmektedir. Araştırmanın amacı 5-6 yaş çocuklara Montessori matematik dersinin öğretilmesinde Montessori eğitim programının etkisini değerlendirmektir. Bu anlamda araştırmacı tarafından oluşturulan mülakat formu ile elde edilen veriler Nvivo programı ile analiz edilmiştir. Bu araştırmanın örneklemini Montessori eğitimi almış (deney) ve almamış (kontrol) 5-6 yaş arası 40 çocuktan oluşan gruplar oluşturmuştur.

Celle-ci s'appuie sur l'observation des étapes du développement spirituel des enfants et développe pour chaque âge les outils nécessaires à son épanouissement. Une de leurs disciples présente cette expérience. Abstract/Notes: Keprihatinan terhadap rendahnya karakter rasa ingin tahu akhir-akhir ini menjadi titik berangkat penelitian ini. Mengetahui pengaruh literasi berbasis pendekatan Montessori terhadap rasa ingin tahu anak pada usia tujuh tahun menjadi tujuan penelitian ini. Untuk itu digunakan pretest posttest non equivalent group design sebagai metode penelitian.  Sebanyak 17 anak kelas IB SD Kanisius Sorowajan Yogyakarta dilibatkan sebagai sampel untuk kelompok Montessori dan 17 anak kelas IA sebagai sampel untuk kelas kontrol. Temuan penelitian memperlihatkan bahwa program literasi berbasis pendekatan Montessori berpengaruh terhadap karakter rasa ingin tahu anak. Uji statistik menunjukkan selisih skor posttest-pretest kelompok Montessori (M = 1,0229, SE = 0,15003) lebih tinggi dari kelompok kontrol (M = 0,0076, SE = 0,03251). Perbedaannya signifikan dengan t(17,499) = 6,614 dan p = 0,000 (p < 0,05). Besar pengaruh yang didapatkan adalah r = 0,8451 yang termasuk kategori “efek besar” yang setara dengan 71,43%. Uji efektivitas pembelajaran di kelas Montessori dengan N-gain score adalah 55,98% yang masuk kategori "efektivitas menengah", sementara di kelas kontrol 0,42% yang termasuk dalam “efektivitas rendah”. [Concerns about the low level of curiosity have recently become the starting point of this research. Knowing the effect of literacy based on the Montessori approach to children's curiosity at the age of seven is the goal of this study. For this reason, the pretest posttest non equivalent group design was used as a research method. A total of 17 class IB children from SD Kanisius Sorowajan Yogyakarta were involved as a sample for the Montessori group and 17 class IA children as a sample for the control class. The research findings show that a literacy program based on the Montessori approach influences children's curiosity. Statistical tests showed differences in posttest-pretest scores for the Montessori group ( M = 1.0229,SE = 0.15003) higher than the control group ( M = 0.0076, SE = 0.03251). The difference is significant with t (17.499) = 6.614 and p = 0.000 ( p <0.05). The magnitude of the effect obtained is r = 0.8451 which is included in the "big effect" category which is equivalent to 71.43%. The learning effectiveness test in the Montessori class with an N-gain score was 55.98% which was in the "medium effectiveness" category, while in the control class it was 0.42% which was included in "low effectiveness".]

Abstract/Notes: The article tackles the issue of mathematical education provided by teachers in the kindergartens run in the Montessori system. As empirical research has demonstrated, mathematical education in Montessori kindergartens proceeds correctly and effectively. The respondent teachers declared that they teach mathematical content very often. They use varied teaching methods and forms specific to the Montessori approach, giving preference to individual work with the developmental material. Such an educational situation guarantees that children completing their pre-school education in the Montessori system will have mastered preliminary mathematical skills (called mathematical intuitions) at an appropriate level and attained the maturity required for learning mathematics at the school level. / W artykule podjęto problem realizacji edukacji matematycznej przez nauczycieli w przedszkolach w systemie Montessori. Na podstawie przeprowadzonych badań empirycznych ustalono, iż edukacja matematyczna w placówkach Montessori przebiega prawidłowo i efektywnie. Badani nauczyciele deklarują dużą częstotliwość realizowania treści matematycznych. Stosują zróżnicowane metody i formy kształcenia właściwe dla pedagogiki montessoriańskiej, preferując indywidualną pracę dziecka z materiałem rozwojowym. Taka sytuacja edukacyjna gwarantuje dzieciom kończącym edukację przedszkolną w systemie Montessori opanowanie na właściwym poziomie wstępnych umiejętności matematycznych nazwanych matematycznymi intuicjami oraz osiągniecie dojrzałości do uczenia się matematyki na poziomie szkolnym.
