Abstract/Notes: Attraverso l’utilizzo di un’ampia documentazione, basata su fonti bibliografiche e archivistiche, nel presente saggio è stato individuato un filo conduttore tra due personalità femminili, tra loro molto diverse, anche dal punto di vista generazionale: Maria Montessori e Margherita Zoebeli. Le loro iniziative in campo educativo, rispettivamente durante la prima e la seconda guerra mondiale, si svilupparono a partire dai bisogni di un’infanzia segnata tragicamente dagli eventi bellici. Proprio nelle loro esperienze è possibile individuare il fulcro vitale e propulsivo di quella che oggi viene definita “pedagogia dell’emergenza”. / In this essay, through the use of an extensive documentation, based on bibliographical and archival sources, a red thread has been identified between two female personalities, who are very different from each other, not only from a generational point of view: Maria Montessori e Margherita Zoebeli. Their initiatives in the educational field, respectively during the first and the second world war, developed starting from the needs of a childhood tragically marked by the war. In their experiences it is possible to find the cornerstone of what we can define today as “Emergency Pedagogy”.

Abstract/Notes: The study presents the life and work of Clara Grunwald and Maria Montessori, on the special background of the development of the Montessori movement in Berlin from the 1920s until the Nazis came to power in 1933 and their consequences. In this study, the effectiveness of Clara Grunwald for Montessori pedagogy in Germany, explicitly in Berlin during the Weimar Republic, is made clear. Here their intention, their influence and their commitment to the establishment of Montessori pedagogy and the development of the Montessori movement in Berlin are described. In addition, the emerging conflict between Maria Montessori and Clara Grunwald is viewed in several layers, as various factors influenced the development and spread of Montessori pedagogy. The conflict between the two women shows fateful effects on the person and work of Clara Grunwald, as well as on the Montessori movement in Berlin. The seizure of power by the National Socialists in 1933 also had serious effects on the work of Clara Grunwald and on Montessori pedagogy in Germany, which resulted in the decline of Montessori pedagogy. Against this historical background, the development of Montessori pedagogy after the end of the Second World War up to the present is examined and briefly outlined. Abstract/Notes: Este trabalho tem como objetivo compreender como ocorreu a transferência, para o Brasil, das propostas pedagógicas de Maria Montessori e quais foram, dentre essas propostas, as que foram incorporadas ao ensino elementar da Matemática no período de 1911 a 1952. Esta é uma pesquisa qualitativa de abordagem documental, apoiada no referencial das transferências culturais. Nossas fontes se encontram nos arquivos da hemeroteca digital da Biblioteca Nacional do Rio de Janeiro; no repositório da Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina; em livros didáticos, artigos e teses sobre a autora. Concluímos que as transferências das propostas pedagógicas de Montessori, no Brasil, ocorreram principalmente por meio de livros, artigos, periódicos, cursos oferecidos aos professores, exposições pedagógicas e pelas escolas montessorianas que surgiram na década de 1920. A apropriação de suas ideias no ensino da matemática no país deu-se com ênfase no ensino de iniciação aritmética e de conceitos elementares de geometria, com forte utilização dos materiais didáticos propostos por Montessori.
