Abstract/Notes: In recent years, educators and workforce experts have been seeing a consensus that the new generation needs the improved skills of the 21st century. Without these skills, it is thought that the new generation cannot successfully participate in the global economy and cannot be prepared enough for the university and business life. In this study, the effectiveness of Montessori Education Approach was evaluated in the acquisition of 21st century skills. An early childhood model proposal was developed by identifying the aspects of this education method, which began a century ago and continued to be developed until 1952, and which is still valid today, are similar to 21st century skills. The 21st century skills that the P21 platform categorized and divided into themes were based on. Matching expressions of 21st century skills and principles in Montessori education were examined. The findings obtained revealed a total of 963 matching expressions of the 21st century skills and the Montesoori education approach. The fact that the Montessori method, which cannot be widely used in our country due to its financial dimension, can be placed in the National Education pre-school education program, may be the correct model, and other modern education methods (Experiential education), High-Scope Regio-Emillia Sweden Program (Whariki) are evaluated and our education system It has been suggested that the most appropriate pre-school education model should be prepared urgently.

Abstract/Notes: This research consisted of a qualitative phenomenological study of public and charter Montessori educators who are linked with Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) teacher training. This study aimed to explore the lived experiences of people of Color associated with AMI teacher training and public or charter schools. The problem statement to be addressed in this study is limited Montessori-trained teachers of color noted in Montessori research and limited representation of people of color in public and charter Montessori schools. Experiences of people of color associated with Montessori have not been shared to the extent of their White counterparts. The guiding theoretical framework of the study is the Montessori methodology. The lived experiences of 14 study participants identified the phenomenon of the study. The Montessori participants, educators of color shared their lived experiences from one of three perspectives: teaching as a fully trained Montessori guide, teaching while enrolled in Montessori teacher training, or working as a Montessori assistant under a trained guide while enrolled in Montessori training. Five major themes emerged from nine interview questions: (1) training experience, (2) work/course load, (3) social emotional wellness, (4) training deficits, and (5) financial implications. Implications that emerged from the study’s findings were connected to social emotional wellness, the intensity of AMI teacher training, and a need for supplemental knowledge of practices outside of Montessori.

Abstract/Notes: The study investigates the impact of the Montessori-based individualized education program on the problem-solving skills of children who need special education. The study group consists of five children from the 4-7 age group, three of which have pervasive development disorder, and two, mental deficiency. The children attend Kayseri Melikgazi Special Education and Rehabilitation Center. The study employed a mixed research model, with an experimental pattern based on a single group employed in pre-test and post-test, without any control group, whereby the participants were subjected to the Montessori-based Individualized Education Program for 12 weeks. The data collection tool used in the study was the Problem Solving Skills Scale (PÇBÖ) 4-7 age group form, developed by Aydoğan, Ömeroğlu, Büyüköztürk and Özyürek (2012), and applied during the pre-test and the post-test, Child Observation Form and along with the Personal Information Sheet. Data analysis employed the wilcoxon signed rank test. The study led to the observation that a significant difference existed between the pre-test and post-test scores pertaining to the children with which the Montessori-based Individualized Education Program was implemented, along with perceived improvements in the children's self-care abilities, language and speaking skills, psycho-motor skills, and attention span for activity.
